Vehicle Detail

1976 Eldorado Convertible, all original driver-quality survivor. I purchase the car locally here in Memphis. I do not have any history or documentation on the car, but spend some time with it and you’ll understand that it is solid and unmolested. Odometer shows 82,000 miles, and while I cannot prove it to be accurate, the condition of the car certainly supports the idea that it is. This is not a show winner or a trailer queen, but it would be a wonderful base for a restoration project or can be enjoyed every day as-is the way I have…it is an absolute pleasure to drive. Everything works on the car except the cruise and the power antenna including the automatic heat and air. Pictures tell the story. EXTERIOR The white paint shows well but is by no means a trophy winner, it’s a good 10-footer. The chrome, trim, and glass are all in good shape. Body is straight with good panel alignment, though the hood could use some adjustment. No trim is missing and all lights (even the cornering lights) work as they should. Bumper fillers are all good, no cracks, not brittle. White hubcaps in good shape. There is one spot where paint has peeled on the top of the right rear fender, it is an easy fix at your local paint shop. There is some of the normal surface rust on the trunk floor, but no substantial rust or rot that I have found. TOP The convertible top works, the top motor, main relay, and drive cables are all new. The white convertible top is still usable, but the material is tired and has shrunk around the rear quarter windows and the front header. The glass rear window is good. No rips in the top. INTERIOR Red interior appears to be all original except the front seat leather which was replaced at some point, it presents well. The rear seat is much more weathered. Carpets are in good shape but have some fading. Dash in great shape, all original, no extra holes or modifications. Door panels have some rips and the driver’s armrest has the regular cracks. The automatic climate control heat and A/C work as they should, A/C has been converted to 134a and the heater core was replaced last summer. All gauges, lights, etc work, original radio works, sometimes intermittently, but a good “smack” gets it going again. All four power windows work from all switches, the always-broken rear window rollers were replaced last summer. Power locks work too. MECHANICAL The car starts, runs, and drives wonderfully. While some of the cosmetics on this car may be a bit tired, the driving experience is wonderful. 500 cu in engine runs smooth, choke works, doesn’t smoke, doesn’t run hot. Transaxle shifts as it should. Steering, breaks, suspension all feel like they should. I have never hesitated to rely on it mechanically. On a sunny day with the top down, you feel like the king of the world. If you’re looking for a great driver-quality Eldo, this is a great car for you. As I’ve said, this is not a show car, but the price reflects the condition. This is a car you can have huge amounts of fun with as I have without having to stress about getting caught in a summer shower or a new ding in a parking lot. Why am I selling? I’ve had the car a couple years now, and it’s just time to move on…I’ve already found the next Caddy I want to buy and I have to free up some space. As for the fine print…I believe I have described the car accurately in words and pictures, but this is a nearly 40-year-old vehicle, so no warranties are expressed or implied, car is sold as-is where-is. Shipping from Memphis, TN is your responsibility. Clear TN title is in hand. Car is advertised locally, so I reserve the right to end the auction early. Payment by cash or wire transfer. If you’d like to ask any questions, you may call me at (901) 230-4707, my name is Scott. I DON’T NEED HELP SELLING MY CAR, BROKERS SAVE YOUR TIME BY NOT CALLING ME. Thanks for looking.
