Vehicle Detail
Up for bid is a 1987 Pontiac Fiero. This is a project vehicle, as it does not currently run. The original engine has been replaced with an L36 Series II V6 that originally came out of a 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix, but the conversion was never completed, although it did run after the conversion. The engine was sourced from a local machine shop, but it appears to have a cracked head or block, causing water to mix with the oil. Although the engine did run after the conversion, I did not have the resources (time) to procure and install a new engine, and sadly the car sat for more than a year. The engineering and fabrication are mostly complete, with a few things that still need to be done. The fuel pump wiring and relay need to be finalized, as well as the cooling fan circuit relay in the front). It still needs the alternator cut-out in the trunk lid, the A/C compressor is present but will need new hoses if you want the A/C to work. It will need a new CV joint boot on the driver’s side, and at this point probably a new set of tires. There may be a few other minor repairs that need to be made to get it road ready after replacing the engine. The original computer has been replaced with a reprogrammed OBDII capable computer, reprogrammed for this application. The VSS signal has been electronically compensated to run the original speedometer. The exhaust, flywheel, mounts, and many other parts have been fabricated and installed to complete the swap. Many new parts, never put to use: New Clutch, pressure plate, throw-out bearing. Custom Flywheel machined specifically for this conversion. New clutch slave cylinder, fuel pump, water pump, and probably many more parts I can't think of right now. Many new conversion-specific parts. If nothing else, these parts could be put to good use on another vehicle. I am now re-married, and have too many young kids to complete the project. It is time for someone else to take over, and put this car back on the road where it belongs. Very low reserve, buyer is to pick up the vehicle from its current location.
