Vehicle Detail
PLEASE DO NOT BID WITHOUT READING THE DESCRIPTION!Up for auction is a 2007 Ford Escape Hybrid. I purchased this car with a blown motor which was replaced with an OEM motor with approximately 40,000 miles (have paperwork). The odometer on the vehicle itself reads a little over 125,600. All fluids were flushed prior to engine reinstall (transmission, oil, coolant and converter). In addition, the throttle body, oxygen sensors, coolant sensor, and MAF were replaced before reinstall. Lastly, the flex pipe and catalytic converter were also replaced as part of the reinstall. I have receipts for everything mentioned above and can provide that to anyone interested. Upon start-up, the car ran fine and drove around a bit with temp tags. I parked it and it sat for about 3 weeks until I received the title. Upon start-up again, I get a “stop safely now” error message. This message sometimes goes away once the car is up to operating temperature but not always. The biggest issue is that the motor runs very rich and misses (misfires) after about 1 minute after start-up. There is good compression on all the cylinders and no mixing of oil, fuel or antifreeze in any of the fluids. There is an intermittent check engine light for the exhaust system. I was told that the timing could be slightly off, the EGR sensor could be bad or it could be the rear catalytic converter but I’m too much in a time crunch to purchase another vehicle to troubleshoot. Cosmetically, the body is very good condition but the windshield has a crack and as does the passenger side mirror. The four-wheel driveshaft is also would have to be re-installed but I do have it in hand. The car is fully loaded with leather seats, navigation, heated seats, heated mirrors, power windows, power locks and four-wheel drive. The interior is clean for its age and the rear seats are like new. The hybrid system also charges and operates fine. The new parts and engine alone are well worth over $2500.00. I’m sure the fix is simple for an individual familiar with these cars and this motor as it proved to be a bit over the head of the mechanic that worked on it. Nonetheless, please understand what you are purchasing and bid accordingly. This vehicle is being sold as-is with the issues described above and best for a knowledgeable mechanic or for a project. If parted out, there is likely well over $6000 worth of parts due to rarity and price that the parts for the Hybrids dictate. The vehicle must be towed as it could no longer be driven far. However, it can still be yard driven onto a tow truck or the like. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or if you would like to view it. I encourage anyone interested to come view it.
