1987 Honda Civic SI Hatchback Great running Civic SI hatchback for sale. I have owned this car since 2008 and have put 100,000 miles on it. It is a fun to drive little car that I'm not real happy to have to sell. It will get 45-48 miles per gallon highway in good weather and 39-42 MPG in crappy winter weather. I have hit 50 MPG on my best 6 tanks. It has had regular maintenance and repairs, and has current Pennsylvania state inspection. I had planned on running this car another 100,000 miles, but came upon a newer Civic that is replacing it. This car is entirely stock except for the transmission. I changed the short-geared SI transmission to a very tall-geared CRX HF transmission to maximize gas mileage. The engine runs 1800 RPM at 65 MPH in 5th gear. It's not as quick with the tall gearing, but the gas mileage is great. I still have the SI transmission for it. It has had oil changes every 5,000 miles, and does not use any oil. I have a box of oil filters for it that will go with the car. There were new front rotors, disk pads, and calipers, and master cylinder installed at 275,000 miles. New timing belt and water pump were installed at 250,000 miles. It has Tokica Illumina adjustable front struts on it. New KYB rear struts were installed this year. It has a K&N air filter in the stock air box. It has new Iridium spark plugs and new plug wires. The front drive shaft CV joints are in good shape, with new boots on both sides. Tires are all matching Sumitomo 165/70R13's with good tread on them. The interior of the car is in great condition for a 27-year old car. Non-smoking household. Everything works on the car as it should, except the air conditioning. It did not work, and the compressor, condenser, and lines were removed. The evaporator is still in place. It has an aftermarket (Audiovox) cruise control that works nicely. For those of you who know Civics, it's an SI. For those who don't, the SI model was the top of the line Civic. It has a 91 horsepower fuel injected engine. It has a removable sunroof, upgraded interior, intermittent wipers, tilt steering, rear wiper and washer, rear defroster. The car comes with the 13x5 aluminum Honda Racing wheels seen in the photos of the car. The bad: rust. Both rocker panels are rusted. The doglegs and rear wheel flares are rusted. They were repaired when I bought the car but need to be repaired again. The floor pans have previously been repaired but are quite solid. The front frames and structural components are all solid. It's a dependable car, and I would like it to go to a good home. I would like the buyer to look at it in person, drive it, and be sure you are satisfied with it. Please write if questions.
