Vehicle Detail

This 1977 FJ40 is in excellent shape mechanically. My wife and I had the 2F motor fully rebuilt around 45,000 miles ago, including new pistons and rings, head port and polish, new seals, a fresh radiator, alternator and starter, intake manifold, clutch master cylinder, and exhaust system It also included a complete OEM smog system, which robs power but allows it to pass emissions every year. We also had a full carpet kit and custom grey headliner installed at that time. More recently (around 30,000 miles ago), we had power steering installed, a DUI ignition, full carburetor rebuild, transfer case overhaul and rebuild, skyjacker suspension with 2" lift, and tie rods throughout the front end. It also has new BF Goodrich AT's (33.5 x 10), and new powder coated spoke wheels. We've had this FJ just over 10 years and its easily been the most reliable and awesome vehicle we've ever owned. It runs perfectly and always has (since the motor rebuild anyway), and easily passes state safety and emissions every year. We've always used it for weekend camping and 4-wheeling fun instead of primary transportation, so we've only averaged 7,000 miles a year. At the time we purchased it, the odometer read 9,000 miles, but since FJ odometers only roll to 100,000, it's impossible to know how many times it had been turned over. Regardless, it clearly had over 9,000 miles wear, so at a minimum 109,000 miles use at the time of purchase. The body is in fairly good shape considering it's age, and although we've always garaged it, it is beginning to rust in several places: cross bar under back doors, rear right quarter panel, both fenders behind the turn signals, along the bottom of both forward doors, around the bottom of the front windshield frame, and under the right rear door window are the major problem areas (please note the photos illustrating all the problem areas). At this point, my feeling is that the frame should be dipped and coated, with some of the more serious sections cut out and replaced rather than repaired. However, if one were very thorough and skilled at body work, I think most of it could be done without having to dip the frame. Other issues include a recent main seal oil leak (not horrible), intermittent short in the horn, missing rear seat heater core, and broken CD player (the speakers are fine). Shipping will be the buyers responsibility, but we'll be happy to aid in any logistics (driving it down to the shipping center for example). The title is clear and registration, safety and emissions are current. We'll set a relatively low reserve since we need to sell it quickly (medical expenses), and we are happy to answer any questions, provide additional photos or videos, and any other info you may need in the process. Thanks for taking the time to look it over and happy bidding!
