Up for auction is a 1961 Ford Econoline Custom Van. This is a real "Barn Find". It was found in Georgia and had been sitting for many decades before it was found. There are pros and cons that I've listed below , but the pros heavily out weight the cons. I currently have three vehicles that I own and wanted to restore. I started on a 1964 Ford Econoline about three months ago and since then I have found and purchased this 1961 Econoline and a 1953 MG TD. Now I have a parking problem . I have 2 to many projects so 1 or 2 have to be sold to make room because I've lost my parking space. So reluctantly my loss is your gain. This 1961 has to have been the most incredible vehicle in it's day (and still is current today) and an absolute fortune must have been spent because of the detail that was spent on this custom. It has an incredible interior which boasts , button tufting, piping, zippers in the seat cushions, Parquet hard wood flooring, mirrors (plastic), Ice Box, etc.. The entire interior is fully insulated. It has a tilt steering column with a custom wood and chrome steering wheel, Underdash Air Conditioning, air shocks, the side window cranks open, the windows work perfect and the felt window trim is in good shape, the windows are beautifully etched (look at the photos, even the vent windows), glass moon roof, HURST shifter , it has a small block V8 engine with an automatic transmission, the dog house is all custom and made with 1" angle steel with sheet steel covering the angle steel construction, the dog house continues all the way to the front of the van to force cool air into the engine, a custom grill on the front with a sealed bottom shield that helps with the air flow, and on and on. I was told by the previous owner that it ran when it was parked, and I checked to see if the engine turned freely and it did, but I haven't done anything with trying to start it because I've been wrapped up with the 64. If you look at the engine photos it looks like three or four of the spark plug wires have disintegrated or were chewed on by some varmint. The body is solid with some slight signs of blistering. Some of the blisters have had the paint actually come off and the metal below is clean so it has to have been the paint or prep when it was painted last that caused some of the blistering. There is some insignificant little surface rust spots, but the floors are solid as can be and I'll add some photos from underneath to show you that the floors are all good and solid. I know I'm leaving something out because there are some many things about this Econoline, but if you have any questions please just ask .
