Volkswagen Rabbit GTI This auction is for a 1984 Rabbit GTI that is basically only good for parts now. It has some major rusting on the floorboard and needs some serious TLC. Our city used a secret additive in their road salt about 12 years ago and it caused many cars to rust at a rapid pace. I had 12 hundred dollars of welding done but it started rusting again about 5 years ago. It rusted so bad that I stopped driving it. I have not driven it for 3 years. It has been sitting in our yard for 3 years, in the sun getting its bones sun bleached. It is rusted so bad that the front seats are falling through the floor board. The hump in the middle of the floor board is solid but between the hump and the side doors you can see day light shining through. It is what we call "a rust bucket." Because it is rusted so bad, it is to be concidered as A ORGAN DONOR, or as spare parts. I cant find the title but I can prove ownership. It does run but runs very erratic.before it was sitting for 3 years it ran good. I start it about once a week but for only 2 minutes at a time because the water pump leaks. The rear hatch around the lock is damaged from a attempted break in. NOW FOR THE GOOD NEWS. It does not smoke and the clutch, radiator and front windshield where replaced about a year before it was parked for 3 years. It has the original coveted low geared 5 speed transmission.Yes, it comes with all four original GTI rims that are in good condition.bumpers are ok but need paint. Selling as is, will allow 8 weeks for pick up or unless other arrangements are made,because I don't know anything about shipping a car. Thanks for looking and happy bidding!
