Vehicle Detail
If you're looking at this auction, then you already know about this rare car. 1968 Iso Rivolta - IR300. #719 of ~790 made. #719 means it must have come off the line behind the famed #718 Le Mans car, still owned by the son of Mr. Rivolta (or at least he did when Iso was the featured mark at Amelia Island Concours a couple years ago). One of approximately 60 made in 1968. Restoration project. I bought this car several years ago as it still is today. I have 6 boxes full of all/most of the parts. The interior had been redone in new, black leather. Clear title in hand. I guess any car nut and/or collector experiences at least one nightmare restoration project, and this was/is mine. The previous owner purchased this car when it was complete and gorgeous. Pictures of the car when the previous owner purchased it included as well. However, it was in his garage with several other classics when the previous owners garage was flooded. As such, he had 4+ car restorations going on at one time, and they were driving him crazy. That's when I came into the picture, and purchased this Iso as a restoration project. Unfortunately, the car was with the biggest joke of a self proclaimed restorer that I've ever come across in my 30-years of purchasing and owning classic cars!!! This guy was the biggest moron, liar, and unethical person that I've ever delt with in the car hobby. He hid behind excuse after excuse, and when I thought things couldn't get worse, he and my Iso disappeared on me! Long story short, it took me quite a while, but finally located this clown and my car. It has since sat in my garage for a couple years. I can't believe I am actually listing my Iso for sale! What I should do is give it to a legitimate restoration shop to make it beautiful, and then enjoy the car. However, I now have too many classics (if that's really possible!), so something has to give. This is where most sellers add, "car is for sale locally, so I have the right to end the auction early." In my case, however, I'll state "I have the right to end the auction early if/when over the next 7-days I come to my senses and decide to keep this magnificent, rare car, and restore and enjoy it!" Email with any questions. On Oct-27-14 at 17:22:08 PDT, seller added the following information: Thank you for your emails. In an attempt to answer most/all questions, the car is solid and rust free. This Iso looks exactly as it did when I purchased it several years ago (other than the dent in the nose that that jack-wagon allowed to happen), so any rust would have shown up and/or bled threw at this point. All parts were included when I purchased the Iso, but the front and back windows and front and rear bumpers were not there when I finally found the car. I may be able track them down, but not optimistic. I've seen windows and bumpers on EBay for sale, so not really a 'major' issue. This will be an amazing, rare, concours worthy car when complete. Why am I selling this car?!!! On Oct-31-14 at 07:20:21 PDT, seller added the following information: There have been several questions about the drivetrain, as well as any rust issues. I got home at dusk yesterday, but had enough light to look under the hood. Grabbed some pliers and pulled on the hood cable; it popped right open. I haven't looked under there in a couple years. It was too dark to take pictures, but it's all there; engine, transmission, rear end, etc....all the way down to spark plug wires, fuse box, a/c compressor, etc, etc. All the inner fenders, firewall, and even the battery box are rock solid with only some minor, surface rust at worse. When I tapped on all inner panels with my finger, it 'pings' like metal should. It's dirty and still shows some signs of Georgia river clay, but it's solid and/or has good bones. Also looked further at the door jams, rocker panels, and even the inside of the doors, and no sign of rust there either. Again, it's dirty but a solid car structurally. I found and can show the body stamp confirming serial #750-719. Tried to take a pictures, but not enough light. I will attempt to post more pictures late today or early tomorrow. Thanks again to all for your interest.
