THE OVERVIEW Offered for an appreciating new owner is this rare classic ONE-OWNER 1977 BMW 320i two-door sedan! Finished in ALL ORIGINAL "Pastelblau" paint over black and blue interior, this first-year example of the E21-chassis three-series BMW has been driven a mere 106,000 miles since new and YES, the six-digit odometer still works! This BLUE LICENSE PLATE CALIFORNIA GEM sports a very good running 2.0 liter inline four cylinder engine mated to a rare factory-original three speed AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION with stopping power provided by front disc and rear drum brakes. This near forty-year-old classic features factory A/C, working original stereo, reclining bucket seats with comfy sheepskin covers, [plus extra bucket seats], original 13" steel wheels with nice rubber, factory manual crank sunroof, factory tool kit and original donut spare tire that looks to have never been used. It is being sold with original small California "pink slip" title! NOTE: I am also including a trunk full of extra parts [radiator, sun visors, light lenses, fuses/cover, ash trays, center console, etc.] This is a great find for about the cost of the sales tax alone on a new quickly-depreciating three series BMW sedan! PLEASE CALL 650-307-2251 FOR QUESTIONS, TEST DRIVES AND/OR MECHANICAL INSPECTIONS. ALSO PLEASE EMAIL ME FOR MANY MORE [100+] DETAILED PHOTOS! THE BODY AND TRIM As I hope is articulated in the many photos here, the exterior of this 1977 BMW is in quite presentable, very original un-restored and immaculate condition throughout with a nice shine to the paint. MOST IMPORTANTLY with these older BMWs is the "R" word.......RUST! Having owner dozens of these classics, I can confidently say that this is absolutely one of the cleanest, driest, most original untouched rust-free examples I have seen in the last two decades. Is it 100% perfectly rust-free? Very very close...99.99% with perfect shock towers front and rear, beautiful clean rocker panels, virgin body panels, even the spare tire well is super clean and dry! Aesthetic imperfections on this car include some miscellaneous nicks, scratches and wear spots. Overall this is an exceptionally nice driver-quality-example that will garner attention everywhere you drive! THE INTERIOR The interior of this 1977 BMW is in good to excellent VERY original condition throughout! It sports factory sunroof, working factory radio and all other controls and gauges working A-ok! The nearly forty year-old blue loop carpeting is in amazing condition throughout with near perfect door panels as well. Imperfections include some small heat cracks on the dash, some light discoloration on the headliner, some tattering of the rear seat fabric and passenger seat and poor upholstery on the original front seat. The a/c is not currently blowing cold. As shown in the photos I am including for the new owner a set of groovy sport bucket seats ready for install. Otherwise the cockpit of this cool classic is in amazingly clean original condition and will be closer to a show piece with seat upholstery redone. THE DRIVING EXPERIENCE This classic BMW starts, runs, shifts, brakes and handles very well. With its barely triple-digit horsepower on tap it will certainly not keep up with a new 135i but has somewhat peppy acceleration, solid secure braking, smooth up and downshifting automatic transmission, tight non-power assisted steering and crisp and quiet rattle-free suspension. There is a slight wheel shimmy at varying highway speeds that may be the result of flat spotting on the tires due to years of non-use. Driving this car with its responsive handling and open airy cockpit harkens back to why the compact BMW has been so popular for the last few decades! THE DETAILS AND $$$$$ 1.
