Vehicle Detail

You are viewing a low mileage 1973 Alfa Romeo 115.01 series GTV 2000 Bertone Coupe. Very rare factory Silver Metallic. Another car opportunity has arisen unexpectedly that I cannot pass up, and I am reluctantly offering the GTV up for sale. Please read the detailed description carefully prior to bidding. Being offered at "Low Reserve". Turn key driver example. Vin #: AR 3022794 Engine : AR 01500*05747 (correct matching number) Color: Silver Interior: Black Clear "Michigan" Title Mileage: 113,012 (original miles) I will be adding more pictures within the next few days. ***Please note that if you have 5 or less feedback transactions, you will need to contact me prior to placing your bid. This also applies to bidder's with negative feedback ratings within the last 12 months*** The "GTV" has been garage stored and maintained by Alfa enthusiasts it's entire life. It was delivered new to "Bulter Imports" in Indianapolis (Window Sticker included) and has stayed in the area since. I purchased it from an Alfa club member that had been the caretaker of the GTV for a good portion of it's life. He was the third owner. The GTV has always been maintained by one of the top Alfa shops in town for over 30 years. The owner is from Italy and specializes in Alfa's and Fiat's. There is a comprehensive set of records that documents the maintenance/repairs over the years. I will do my best to highlight the work that was done. Most importantly, the GTV is turnkey and ready to drive and enjoy. The GTV has seen very little use over the years and was used an occasional weekend driver and also Alfa club events. Mechanically the GTV is in excellent condition. It is well sorted and really needs no work at all. As previously noted, the GTV was used for periodic Alfa club events, and is currently set up with some nice upgrades. It has an aggressive stance with near new Panansport 15 x 7 wheels with Falken tires. Has Shankle suspension/springs with Koni shocks. The suspension is very responsive as well as the steering. The 2000 cc engine runs nicely and starts easily with the twin weber carbs. The engine is quiet with no strange noises. The engine is perfectly clean and does not leak or weep. Engine compartment looks ok. has been touched up at some point to cover flaking paint. Fitted with Euro Air box. Transmission completely rebuilt with less than 5000 miles. Needless to say there are no issues with 2nd gear grinding. Exhaust is relatively new. Driveshaft/U joints are fine with no issues. Brakes work fine including emergency brake. Brake booster is not hooked up, however the brakes work just fine without the booster. Heat and heater fan work fine. Gas gauge works intermittently. Fitted with a battery cutoff switch - previous owner said that the battery goes dead after sitting a bit. He thought it might be related to the added fog lights, but didn't use the Alfa enough to figure it out. I did not investigate this either. There are some non stock additions to the GTV which include fog lights, oil pressure gauge - (stock gauge does not work) & a nice pair of Italian air horns. Some of the other work done on the Alfa consists of the following starting with the most recent: 1. Rebuilt transmission including new flywheel, ring gear, starter, rear main seal. (5000 miles) 2. R & R weber carbs. 3. R & R distributor and tune up. 4. Differential seal. 5. Front and rear brakes & wheel bearings. 6. Replace differential. 7. Upper control arms & tie rod ends. 8. Clutch & Brake Master Cylinders. 9. Headgasket (80,000 miles) The Interior is in near perfect condition for it's age showing virtually no wear. It is currently fitted with a Monaco racing seat as well as a 6 point racing seat belt. The seat provides great support and is very comfortable - it was installed for the club events. The headrest is not installed but is included. The original seat is in perfect condition and is included as well. The rear seat is in great condition as well with no rips or tears. Both door panels in excellent condition with no damage or wear. Original carpets are in excellent condition showing virtually no wear. Wood steering wheel in nice condition. Both window regulators work fine with no issues. Headliner in good condition. Dash is in excellent condition with just a few hairline cracks near the defroster vent. Center console is in good condition as well. The body is in good original condition with minimal rust on the body. Records indicate that in 1977 the GTV was in the body shop for some sort of collision repair to the right front of the car. The receipt shows work done to grill/bumper and to the right front inner/outer fender. There is evidence of this repair work in the engine compartment. In the late 80's the body was restored and repainted in it's original factory Silver metallic color. The body work has held up pretty good over the 25 years since the paint work was done. I will try to highlight some of the issues that are worth noting. Exterior body rust is pretty much limited to some bubbles in the following areas: passenger door near door handle, right rear quarter panel behind rear wheel, some bubbles near rear window, some small bubbles at bottom left corner of the driver's door. Other issues from the restoration include evidence of the left rear wheel arch repair, and passenger side dog leg area. At some point the passenger side door over extended and it is dented as a result of this. Exterior rocker panels look solid and rustfree however upon closer inspection underneath there is rust on the inner rockers. The floors are all solid and in good original condition. Records show repair work done to the front sway bar mounts. There are other misc imperfections that one would expect from a 40 year old car. Does not have hood tension rods. Both front and rear bumpers in excellent condition. Paint finish has held up nicely and many consider silver to be one of the best colors for the Bertone Coupe - it is certainly a rare color. The GTV represents a great opportunity for the Alfa enthusiast that is looking for a GTV and cannot afford a restored example. The GTV looks very presentable and is ready to be driven and enjoyed. Far from perfect, but will provide plenty of pleasure and enjoyment for a very low investment. Considered by many to be one of the best looking Alfa coupes. Keep in mind that the GTV is 40 years old and is in "driver" condition. ***LOW RESERVE AUCTION! The Alfa is being sold in "as is" condition with no warranty expressed or implied. I cannot be held responsible for any errors or inaccuracies that may have been inadvertently been provided. Please have your finds in order prior to bidding. Shipping is up to the buyer to arrange. On Oct-16-14 at 08:36:23 PDT, seller added the following information: A few quick points to add: I forgot that there is some sun damage to the top of the rear seat that was covered with black tape by the previous owner. It's a small area, that is not really noticeable. Also, the carbs may need a little bit of fiddling. There is no smoke issues out of the exhaust. I will update if there is anything else that I can think of. Lastly, I have done my best to describe the GTV as accurately as possible. There is no reason/benefit for me to misrepresent the Alfa because it really will not affect the value. It is far from perfect and is a great driver quality GT.On Oct-17-14 at 08:54:13 PDT, seller added the following information:
