Vehicle Detail
Beautiful 1977 Chevy Monza Mirage #3224. This survivor has 77,898 original miles and is equipped with the original 305 V8 mated to a 4speed Saginaw transmission. I have owned many Monza's and Vega's, but this is by far the nicest. I bought it 8 years ago, and have only put about 300 miles on it. Why am I selling it? I purchased another car of my dreams and I must let this one go. Time for someone else to enjoy it!! Exterior: Very nice white repaint done by a previous owner. Straight clean body with Mirage package-all Mirage panels present with only a couple of minor cracks by the rivets on the rear spoiler. Intact and VERY hard to find intact Mirage front chin spoiler. Nice fiberglass hood with 4" scoop, mounted with factory hinges and front hood pins. I do have a spare factory hood if the buyer wishes to purchase it for $25. Freshly mounted new old stock front and rear Chevy emblems, including hard to find rear hatch lock access emblem. Good glass all around. Almost impossible to find 14" American Racing 4 lug Aluminum slots, with BF Goodrich Comp T/A tires. These wheels give you much greater tire selection while retaining the 4 lug setup. Interior: Firethorn Red interior in good condition. Mirage #3224 identification plate produced by Michigan Automotive Techniques Corp. Factory gauges, factory radio with unmolested dash. Hurst Nascar shift knob installed (fells much better than original), with a NOS 4 speed factory knob included in the glove box. 4 spoke steering wheel installed, but also comes with the original. Doors close with a nice thud and don't sag. Engine/drivetrain: Excellent running original 305 V8. Pro/Stock intake manifold that was installed on the car in may of 1978, mated to a Edelbrock 600 CFM electric choke carb and chrome air cleaner. Stock distributor with Accel high voltage coil. Recently replaced; heater core & hoses, upper radiator hose, intake coolant neck, NOS coolant overflow bottle, blower motor. Stock exhaust manifolds (with that flapper emissions crap and cat converter removed) mated to Flowmaster dual exhaust. Nice Saginaw 4 speed manual transmission, with the clutch, pressure plate, and flywheel replaced in April 2006, but that was only 350 miles ago!! Power steering and power brakes. Brakes stop really well, and the rears are newer. Emergency brake works. Additional: I have a ton of receipts from the previous owners, including the original car invoice and owners manual from May 25th 1977, showing this is an actual Mirage, along with optional equipment, accessories, and price ($6630.24 back in 1977). Receipts for the clutch work, intake, tires, etc. I also have some parts that go with the car such as the original hubcaps, 2 bbl carb, evap canister, and some other misc stuff. I will also include my Monza 5 layer car cover. I am in no way saying this 37 year old car is perfect, at it is not. But these cars are getting hard to find, especially in this condition. I want you to feel confident you know what you are buying, so here are the problems that I have noted: There are a few rust bubbles on the lower parts of the doors and rocker panels as shown in the pics, along with a small hole on the passenger rocker panel where it hit it with my floor jack. I have had some bad Monza doors, believe me, these are nice. The drivers set has two tears in it. The carpeting has seen its better days by the drivers feet, and should be replaced. The in tank fuel pump and fuel gauge don't work, and have not since I bought the car (I wasn't told that when I bought it). But there is a fuel pump and regulator installed in the engine compartment and has always worked great! I keep the tank full with no problems. I have gone so far as to test the wiring back to the fuel tank, and there is power back there behind the hatch panel. Dropping the tank was going to be my winter project. Front speaker doesn't work. Clock doesn't work, dome light cover is missing..................................That's it. Give the gas pedal one pump to set the electric choke ,turn the key, and you are ready to roll!! ****I have a bunch of NOS parts and other parts that I will put in separate auctions: NEW in the box Monza V8 radiator, spare tail lights and white front turn signal lights, set of 10 hole Aluminum wheels, Cosworth wheels, rear shocks, hatch supports, NOS 4 speed shift knobs, gas caps, and Monza License plates and memorabilia . I am willing to work with a shipping company if you arrange it. Please do not bid if you don't intend to buy!! No refunds!! This vehicle is for sale locally, and I have the right to end this auction at any time. Good Luck!! On Oct-19-14 at 09:20:36 PDT, seller added the following information: Bidding has slowed, so I am taking a leap of faith by lowering the reserve. Instead of waiting until the end of the auction to bid, not knowing if the reserve will be met, you can bid now. THE NEXT BID WILL MEET THE RESERVE, SO BID TO WIN!!!
