Vehicle Detail

Selling my 81 Porsche 911SC. I have owned and loved this car for 8 years. When I bought it, there were 75,000 original miles on the odometer. I have put about 12k on it since then, so it’s around 87k. It has been a spirited summer “daily driver” for myself, and the previous owner as well. Meaning, it did not sit around in storage until a parade or show came around, it was driven regularly. It has never seen snow to my knowledge or been in any kind of accident since I have owned it. It has required zero repairs in the time that I have owned it, only oil changes, brake fluid flush and valve adjustment. It handles superbly and rides well. No leaks what so ever. I am only selling because I have way too many cars and motorcycles. The equity of this 911 is partly due to the low overall miles on the chassis, but also because the engine and transmission were overhauled at about 60k. The previous owner told me that a case stud had failed, and since they were in there, they did the whole job, complete with oil-fed cam tensioner update, and new more aggressive cams. Also, transmission was overhauled as well. The transmission still does not shift great, but apparently they are known to not be super smooth. Maybe it’s the shift bushing or motor mounts? Probably not a big deal but I always wish it shifted smoother. I had a shop try adjusting the shifter and they could get a few gears to be crisper, but not all of them. And then if they adjusted for the sloppy gears, the crisp ones would get vague, so probably just an alignment, bushing, mount issue? I do have receipts for the above major work, the total for all the work was around $13,000. Also, the brake master cylinder was done, full brake job and Muffler as well. The car drives straight, has a nice tight Bilstein suspension that corners like a dream. Better than most 911s I have driven, even newer ones. Some guys have suggested that it has been lowered a bit, but I am not sure. OK a few details: Car has the factory 16” FUCHS wheels.Original folding spare tire and jack. And aftermarket air pump. The photos reveal that the paint is beautiful. Some time before I owned it, it had an entire re-spray. It is the stock color. It seems to be a quality paint job, very nice and shiny, but it has never been properly “restored”. There also are a few spots where, upon close inspection you can see there were minor touch-ups, some cracked paint on the rear deck-lid, and the drivers rear quarter fit is a bit off. But, for the most part, the panel fit is very good. It has been a well cared for driver, but not quite a concourse car. Carpet is nice in center and perimeter, but floor mats show wear. Leather seats are decent, no tears, just the typical wear of 33 years. The head liner has a few small blemishes but overall nice. Everything electrical works, with the recent exception of the clock. It actually will work for about a day, then it blows a fuse. So, it is unhooked for now. The Power mirrors work. The Power windows work. The Power sunroof works. The Heater booster fan works, but squeals. The Factory heater boxes, cables, levers and heat valves work! Newer, stock type exhaust, with a nice traditional deep sound.Catalytic converter? not sure of it's condition or if it has been eliminated? They do not test for emissions in Minnesota. Body is very solid. Note detailed photos of inside of doors and under carpet. No rust on body, no evidence of major collision damage, original soundproofing and seam-sealer in very good shape. As typical, there is a small amount of corrosion in battery area. Again, exterior paint is very nice, door jambs have also been painted, a small amount of the jamb "repaint" is flaking off of the original paint, but its hard to notice. Original paint underneath is sound, same color so its hard to notice. The car has factory AC. Since I have owned it, it will blow cold for a few minutes then blows warm. I took to AC shop and they said “there is enough Freon, but there seems to be a restriction at the expansion valve”. The repair itself is not extensive or expensive, but at 33 years old you might want to change receiver/dryer and check over hoses and such. But when last checked, compressor was fine, condenser and evaporator and hoses and controls were fine, just the restriction was an issue. This car is ready to drive, I would not hesitate to take it across country.I will provide more photos soon! *Note: in photos one driving/fog lamp is broken, a new part has been ordered and will be installed before auction closes. *Note: car has original grey "felt" trunk liner. I took it out for photos, but it is included with car and in decent shape, except by battery area it's a bit messed up. I will include photo soon. Thanks,Brian. If you would like to see interior photos please send me a message and I think I can send photos directly to your eBay e-mail. Dash is very nice, front and rear seats are good, no tears, no smoking. Aftermarket Pioneer CD player, clean install. Instrument gauges are good, no problems except for clock as previously stated. Carpet has faded irregularly, although car always stays in garage (not stored outside). Just shoot me a message and I will try to send pix. On Sep-30-14 at 07:57:56 PDT, seller added the following information: Note: Car also comes with Original owner's manual. Note: For shipping I have had great luck with "uship.com" They are a network for shippers, the shippers compete for your shipping job. This is at no cost to you. Shipping cost will probably range from $250 to $1,200 depending on carrier and enclosed/open carrier.
