Vehicle Detail
Thank you for looking. I am selling my 1973 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia convertible. I have had it since March of 2012 and it has ALWAYS driven well. 2 pumps of the gas pedal to the floor and it starts right up. I have driven it back and forth from Dallas to San Antonio (4.5 hours each way) several times and it truly is a pleasure to drive! It was a California car until 2007 when a San Antonio, Texas buyer purchased it. It has been maintained by one of Dallas's finest VW mechanics and VW specialists. The Karmann Ghia was made from 1955 to 1974. They ONLY MADE 2555 convertibles in 1973...and this one is a blast to drive and guaranteed to get you some attention where ever it is driven. Car is outfitted in 'California cruiser' style with the sleek black side mirrors and the blacked out 'Karmann Ghia' emblem on the rear deck. **This car allows you the opportunity to drive it and love it as is, OR if you want a very nice project car to restore, this is a candidate for that as well. I have maintained it with regular oil changes and minor maintenance...now it's time for someone else to enjoy it as I have!** The only signs of damage is an old hit to the front that seems to have been professionally repaired. All pictures are of the car you are purchasing. At some time, the heater boxes and tubes were removed (no real need for them in Texas). The car will come to you with a refurbished pair of heater boxes (not pictured) and if you want to restore the heater, all you will need are the tubes and the installation of them. Paint is good (not great)-there are some little nicks and scratches, but nothing serious...as you can tell, it photographs very nicely! The roof is new-ish (see pics) and DOES have the perforated headliner. Back window is GLASS and DOES contain the defrost coil, but it is not functioning. Speedometer, and odometer work. Wipers work (not water spray though), signals/emergency flashers work, lights work (not the dome light), doors open and close right, windows are all nice, door windows roll down nice (a little hard to roll up, but they work), engine runs well and does NOT exhibit any problems other than a couple drips of oil now and then. Car comes with the mini-spare that fits nicely in the nose, new battery, and owners manual. The back of the back seat is upholstered on one side and carpet on the other-when lifted upright, it makes a very small back seat. When I got the car, there was an aftermarket stereo in the dash (had already been cut out) but it was terrible. I have put in the modern Kenwood head unit with removable speaker boxes (Pioneer 6X9's) in the back seat. Engine trunk cable/knob is there (in the body) but does not work-could be fixed very easily by re-attaching the cable and catch. Hood latch is in the glove box and operates by pulling the 'O' ring through the cable-very easy. The convertible boot (cover for the roof when it's down) snaps only in a few places, but does work - I would have replaced it if I were keeping the car. They are available on ebay for a little over $100.00. Please look at my pictures carefully and if you have any questions, or need further information, please email, text, or call my cell number that is listed at the bottom of this listing. Car has a clean Texas title, and is currently registered in Texas. This is a FIXED PRICE AUCTION with the ability for you to submit your best RESPECTFUL offer. Someone is going to get a very nice running and driving antique vehicle for a GREAT price! Please notice that I'm a long-time Ebay user with SUPERB POSITIVE feedback. I would prefer to have a bank wire transfer as payment, and that payment is requested within 24 hours of the close of this auction. Please e-mail or call 214-907-1273 with any questions before placing a bid. **I prefer local pick-up, but will help meet your shipper of choice to ensure a smooth transaction.**
