Up for bid is my 1979 Ford F-150 XLT Ranger. This is a very rare "survivor" truck originally titled in California (yes, it has emissions). Rare because of its original condition as well as the super cab/short box combination. Its difficult to even find a photo of this combination let alone a truck with this combination in this condition. She was shipped to her current location in Michigan via freight train in 1989 and has since been stored indoors. I have all original paperwork, owners manual, warranty tag, etc. (as shown in photos). I even have the original license plate trim from the dealership. Regarding body: Body is extremely solid. 99% rot free and 98% rust free. By "rot" I'm referring to the passenger side cab corner. There is a section on the back side of the cab that can only be seen from under the truck that has rusted enough to cause the 2 layers of metal to de-laminate. It is not a rust hole, but more significant than surface rust. By "rust" I'm referring to minor surface rust/scale on wear areas, underbody, frame and drivetrain. Overall the body is straight and true. There are a few insignificant dings and dents here and there but lets not forget this is a 35 year old vehicle. All trim/moldings are original and complete, doors and tailgate close smoothly as they should. All windows function properly (although the driver and passenger side glass both have some light scratches as most of these truck do). Hood latch has the typical "Ford stick." You have to lightly tap the hood for it to pop loose from the latch. Door seals are beginning to crack and deteriorate and could use replacing in the future. The hot California sun caused some fading to the emerald green portion of the paint so it was freshened up in 1989 when it was brought to Michigan. By "freshened up" I mean it was lightly sanded and sprayed with a thin layer of paint to bring back its shine. Regarding Interior: Completely original and in very good condition. Drivers side of seat has 2 small tears (as shown in photos) Regarding Drivetrain: 302 engine rebuilt 12/20/1988 at 47,069 miles, (yes, I have the receipt). C6 automatic transmission, 9 inch rear axle. Engine starts and runs smooth, transmission shifts smooth and crisp. Original 2 barrel carburetor was recently rebuilt. She spends most of her time resting in the garage so needless to say the carb was a bit gummed up.. Brakes are in good working order. Steering has some slop but this is very common in these trucks. Good/year tires have 95% tread. Oh, I almost forgot to mention that this truck leaks nothing. This means no putting down cardboard "diapers" to catch all the fluids. Can you believe that?! It's true, believe it. :) Additional equipped options: -A/C (compressor spins freely but system needs an R12 recharge).-Cargo lamp-Tilt column-Dual fuel tanks. (front tank has not been used in approximately 12 years and because of that, it could probably use a cleaning. The truck sits so much that it didnt make sense to keep 2 tanks full of fuel)..-Carpeted kick panels I am sure that I'm forgetting some things and I fully intend to update the details as they come to me. Please keep in mind that this truck has not been restored and is in its original, 1979 condition. To consider this "show quality" would be at the buyers discretion. If you're looking for an original condition survivor, this is your truck. If you're looking for a completely restored trailer queen, this is probably not your truck. I forgot these details as I was typing my original description. There is a minor exhaust leak where the drivers side manifold meets the Y pipe, I believe the "donut" needs to be replaced because as the truck warms up, the donut expands and the leak becomes barely noticeable. The knob for the windshield wiper switch needs to be repaired/replaced. The plastic inside the knob is broken and makes it difficult to turn the switch (once again, this is very common on these trucks).
