Vehicle Detail

Having sold a car or two on eBay over the years, I've come to realize that some bidders just flat-out refuse to read my descriptions. So, for those folks, here're the highlights: *Body has some rust, but not very much. Floors have been repaired.*Fuel tank needs to be fixed (it's out of the car).*Brake lines need to be replaced.*Car WILL NEED WORK to run and drive. I repeat: It DOES NOT run and drive. Now, for those of you who don't mind reading (if you're still interested, that is): I bought this thing with the intention of putting it back on the road, but about a week after I brought it home, I ran across another project that I couldn't pass up. I sure don't have time for two, so this one needs to go. The car is well worth tinkering with I believe, and would be a relatively easy and inexpensive project. There are a few small rust spots (and one rather large one in the bottom of the spare tire well), but overall the body is remarkably solid and very straight. The floors were repaired during a previous "restoration" (not a seamless job, but I've seen worse). The seats were redone, but as you can see they've faded over the years. Most of the chrome has been removed for paint, but I do have it all (or at least the majority of it). This thing hasn't been on the road in a few years, so it'll take some work to get it in driving condition. The fuel tank is out of the car; it leaks and needs to be repaired. By rigging up a two-gallon gas can and an electric pump, I did manage to fire up the engine. It idled and revved pretty well and held 40 psi of oil pressure (according to the gauge). There was a bit of a noise--not really a knock, more of like a scrubbing/bumping noise--coming from around the front of the engine; I figure the old fuel pump might be the culprit, but I don't know for sure. The transmission is that funky four-speed hydramatic. (If you're not familiar with it, look it up; it's actually a pretty cool transmission.) Obviously I haven't thoroughly checked it out, but it does drop into gear nicely, and the reverse/park feature works as it should. The fluid looks good and clean as well. The master cylinder is new, but the steel brake lines still need to be replaced (they're pretty cheap at NAPA). I was told that all of the brake hardware is new, too, but I haven't pulled the wheels to see for myself. Of course, being an old Georgia car, this thing does not have a title; you'll get a Bill of Sale only. (I apologize for the "Salvage" classification above; eBay doesn't give me the option to choose "no title.") I guess that's pretty much all I know about the car (at least all the important stuff). If there's anything I've missed, or if you'd like more details or more pictures (I have plenty of pictures), feel free to shoot me an email. As always, please ask any questions BEFORE you buy so we can prevent any surprises come pick-up time. Thanks.
