Vehicle Detail
1984 Volkswagen GTI. Has a 2.0 16v motor from a passat 16v and has roughly 65k miles since it was rebuilt. The odometer in the car shows 276k miles, due to the state of the car I do not believe this is the original cluster. I have no proof for this one way or another so take it as you will. Engine/Trans:The timing belt was done fairly recently and a Techtonics HD clutch kit was installed earlier this year. The transmission is the close ratio 4k box though 5th gear has been replaced with one more suitable to highway cruising. I have a fair amount of receipts for the engine including a balancing sheet for rods and pistons, and many other items. The motor is entirely stock with original cams and ecu- simple and reliable. The head gasket has been replaced with an MLS gasket and most of the top end seals were replaced at that time. The tack does get intermittent from time to time. InteriorThe interior has matching recaro seats, though the drivers does have a tear, and is showing some wear. The rear seat is in great shape, and carpeting is pretty nice as well. The front door cards are in excellent shape. The rear kick panels have been scratched a bit with use. Exterior. The car has been repainted from silver to white at one point and is showing some age. All panels are straight and rust free. There really isn't a dent or a ripple on the car, the paint is just heavily oxidized. There are rock chips in the hood and air dam from road use. The underside of the car is cancer free. ChassisFront brakes have been upgraded to G54 calipers and the rears have been converted to discs. Car comes with a fairly nice set of coilover suspension and includes a full set factory suspension with new struts and strut mounts. The car handles well and the brakes will stop this thing in a hurry. Also included in the sale is a pair of manuals, one for the motor and the other for the chassis itself. All in all it's a great reliable car, and its the rabbit you always wished yours could be. The right motor, the right trans, 4 wheel discs; a little tlc and its back to the little pocket rocket these where known to be. Buyer to arrange shipping, will help facilitate within reason. It's been a good 10 years since this car was originally built and some age. The car will need some maintenance items, though nothing to prevent being roadworthy. The control arm bushings will need some attention soon, and while the shift linkage still performs as it should, its beginning to show signs of loosening up. I am more than happy to attempt a Skype video type call with the high bidder to make sure their are no surprises. I'm also happy to answer any questions via phone call at 541-701-7983
