Vehicle Detail

1959 Dodge Coronet 2 dr post. ORIGINAL CA. Highway Patrol car! Not a clone factory 383 four barrel engine. 3 speed automatic. Posi-traction rear axle No power steering no power brakes. Runs and drives great. I bought it in Sacramento a few years ago. Older fellow I bought from said his friend had bought the car when it was taken out of service. It had been painted red, but the man re-painted it the original black. He also painted the doors and roof white. The original 59 CHP should have been the black roof. Engine and transmission were reported to have built a while back. No paper on that. But runs shifts fine. A little exhaust hiss. Has all the required CHP options for 59. Windshield mounted rear view mirror in place of the dash mount that was standard that year. Factory plug is in dash. Has a 57 Plymouth steering wheel. All CHP cars from 1959 through 1961 use the '57 Plymouth wheel because CHP required a full circle horn ring. Has front seat belts. Factory Certified Speedometer. 15" wheels. The decals on the car are magnetic. They can come off in a minute. Some yellowing under the door decals because I have left them on. Front spot light wired to blink with the rear lights. Steady burn amber, blinking red in the back. Front spot lights are missing the shaft and handles. As stated, the drivers side front is hooked up to blink. Passenger side is not hooked up. You can see holes under the dash where the original spot light shifts came through. Paint is very presentable. Interior very nice. Missing both side front kick panel upholstery. Radio not working Some rust where the rear window meets the fins on the passenger side. See photo. Right rear fender lip has a small bubbling see photo. Fuel gauge not working. All other lights and accessories work as they should Perko brand vintage siren. hooked up and works. Wind-up style siren, not electronic Good tires and brakes, though the right front wheel cylinder sticks once in a while. Emergency brake works Still has original CA title Still wearing CA black license plates. Dodge won the bid for CHP in 1959. About 350 cars delivered. Tested at 129 mph in 1959!
