This is my 1980 Datsun 510 rear-wheel-drive sedan, which is known in Japan as the Nissan Violet. In the United States this is a very rare car to begin with. This car is the even more rare 4-door hatchback body style which was only made for the last 14 months of production. Vintage Japanese rear-wheel-drive cars are becoming very collectible, and this car is one of the rarest examples you'll find. This car could be your reliable daily driver, or it could be the starting point for a drifting car or Japanese collectible restoration. Most of these cars had the 4-speed manual transmission, the hatchbacks like this car came with the much more desirable 5-speed dogleg manual transmission. This car has a bracket on the front; it was towed behind an RV for most of its miles. The miles shown are due to many cross-country trips being towed behind the RV. This is a solid, clean, original-paint CALIFORNIA car with no rot and a totally solid and clean body. The paint appears to be all-original and it is in excellent condition with a good gloss remaining. The body panels are all totally solid and clean- this car has never seen a midwest winter nor any road salt. This car starts, runs and drives beautifully. It is a pleasure to drive this car- the 5-speed manual RWD setup is a dream to drive. This car is totally dependable and reliable and it drives outstandingly well. I wouldn't hesitate to take this Datsun on a long trip anywhere. The tires are nearly new and I have a number of service receipts for work done to the car. This car is currently registered and titled in OHIO. The California plates are on the car in the photos to corroborate the CA history of the car. This car drives like nothing else. It is a revvy, powerful 2.0L 4-cylinder engine with a superb dogleg-pattern 5-speed manual transmission and rear wheel drive. Where else would you find this combination? A Porsche 914? BMW 2002 tii? The car drives perfectly and it is 100% reliable and dependable. The engine, transmission, clutch, brakes, suspension, etc are all working great. I would trust this car to drive anywhere. I have original owner's manual for the car. This is a great, solid fun old car but as a 1980 car it isn't brand new. Here is a list of every known defect or problem: the interior shows dirt and wear in the carpets and upholstery. The driver's seat upholstery is ripped and worn and has some holes. The "racing stripe" stickers on the exterior are somewhat faded and peeling. The HVAC blower motor isn't working and therefore neither is the A/C. The shifter boot fabric is worn out. There are various minor and expected normal exterior defects, chips, etc. This car is kept in my garage in Willoughby OH. You can fly in to Cleveland (CLE) and drive this car home.
