Vehicle Detail

Up for Bid is a near 100% original Honda CD175. This is a transition model made specifically for the American Market. She is titled as a 1969, but, research shows the actual production year as 1968. Other than a modernized air cleaner system she appears to be all original, and, as such is a pleasure to ride and operate. Starting is easy with the kick starter or the fully functional electric starter. This motorcycle has been in my possession since February 2013. She will accelerate up to 60mph easily with me and my teenage grandson on board. I do not know the top speed. It is one of the smoothest bikes I have ever ridden in my 46 years of motorcycle riding experience. The paint is faded in places and has a chip or two, but, is original and shiny. To my knowledge, only the fenders have been repainted. The seat is in excellent condition as purchased. I do not know it to be original or recovered. I did replace a side cover knob with as close to original as I could find at the time.I can provide more detail photos if requested. She is a nice solid sound, great handling and cool little bike that needs a good home. I am not a shipper. However, I am will consider personally delivering (for a fee) to a successful bidder within 200 miles of my 317110 zip code. I know of a motorcycle transporter contact that lives nearby. I need 500 dollars withing 48 hours of sale. If you do not have a strong ebay history contact me quickly after bidding and I will allow you to bid, otherwise I will have to disqualify you. You are on your own for shipping, though, I will help and work with you on pick-up time schedule etc. I am not asking crazy money for the bike just what it should be worth - the actual cash value in today's market - so good luck bidding.Below is some pertinent and interesting information I retrieved from the internet:Honda CD175K0 (U.S.A) Frame # CD175-1017136 ~This is the Honda twin that so many people remember with fondness. The 1967 CD175A model retaining real collector value for prime examples. Although designated as a CD touring/commuter, the A ‘Sloper’ model, with the CB160 based center cam chain engine was a joy. It’s 17 hp from a fuss free single carburetor head propelled the lightweight machine to far greater velocities than might be expected, in fact it gave little away to the CB160 in performance, and the pressed steel backbone chassis was both light and strong. The engine was a four speeder, and was not fitted with an electric start, the casting being blanked off at the point where the starter motor would have fitted. The CD175 continued on with the new upright engine, and in the now universal full cradle frame, used on CB175 sports models as well. This machine has the honour of being Honda’s longest running twin, and sold particularly well in the U.K purely as a commuter, the extra weight of the new chassis and a 2bhp power drop taking the edge off the original A models performance, although some say the camshaft profile was also reduced a little for more reliability! Honda CD175From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia1975 Honda CD175The Honda CD175 was a 174 cc (10.6 cu in) Honda motorcycle made from 1967 to 1979. It was the touring model in Honda's 175 cc motorcycle lineup that also included the sportier CB175 and the off road CL175 version. The CD175 shared many components and design elements in common with the contemporary CD125 and SS125 models from Honda including stamped "t-bone" frame, swingarm, double seat, and electrics among other things. It had electric start, except in the UK, turn signals, and mirrors. The "sloper" engine used on earlier models was an evolutionary version of the older Honda CB160 power plant and contained many of the same components including most of the castings and internal items. The CD175 had a 360° crankshaft, wasted spark ignition, single carburetor, a parallel twin high revving engine, 16" wheels and a 100 mph (160 km/h) speedometer. Each connecting rod big end had roller bearings.SpecificationsYears of Production 1967–19791967 models (product code 237) began at serial number CD175-1000001. Also known as the CA175, CD175A, or CD175 K0 just over 17000 of these units were built and distributed worldwide although only to commonwealth countries. Styling and appearance on these early CD models was similar to the larger CB450K0 "Black Bomber", especially the British version which received a set of low-rise handlebars (as well as no electric start and different winker positions).1968 models (also product code 237) began at serial number CD175-10017136 and incorporated changes that allowed for export to the USA. These changes included a different fuel tank with larger, less pointy chrome covers and knee pads, larger more bulbous battery and tool covers, upgraded lighting and signals/switches, and a hybrid welded-tube/stamped frame. The engine remained unchanged from 1967.Displacement: 174 ccEngine: 1967 to 1968:4 stroke 360 degree parallel twin; air cooled; single overhead cam (chain driven); cylinders inclined 30 degrees forward from vertical ("sloper" engine); 9.0:1 compression ratio; max 17 bhp @ 10,500 rpm.Fuel system: Single 22 mm Carburetor, cylindrical slide type (Keihin Seiki PW-22)Gearbox: 4 speed, wet clutch (1st-2.769; 2nd-1.778; 3rd-1.318; 4th-1.040); Gear-driven primary drive (3.70:1); chain-driven final drive (2.470:1)Electrics: 6 volt (battery ignition)Valves: 2 valves / cylinderExhaust: 2 into 2 with baffle type silencers.
