Vehicle Detail

I am offering this great piece of detroit history for those of you who love muscle cars. I am the second owner and have been for the last 25 years. This car belonged to my Grandmother whom believed in wasting nothing. That includes cars. So she drove it for many many years until it just got too old to be dependable for her. I have the original paperwork for when she purchased the car new in 1971. She traded in a 1967 2 dr. Chevelle :( I will give the buyer this paperwork for conversation fuel if nothing else. This car obviously needs restored. I drove it for a few years as a young man. It does not have power brakes. It has manual brakes and drums all around. The motor has always ran so strong and so smooth and quiet that a few times people tried starting it while it was already running. Amazingly it still starts right up and runs strong even after setting for years. It has developed a bit of a miss but it is random, maybe every other revolution or two. Could be a sticking valve due to not getting the lead additive that it needs or it could have a weak plug or wire. This motor has never been rebuilt. Not so much as even a timing chain. I have put two water pumps on it over the years and two alternators and rebuilt the carb three times. That's it. The transmission still shifts smoothly and very well. It does have a failed front trans seal which will require dropping the trans to replace it. The car still drives down the road but it is in bad need of everything. I put a new master cylinder on it to drive it across town to where it is parked now for sale. I have had many inquiries. Unfortunately no one seems to have extra cash these days for a toy to restore. My Grandmother had an accident about 27 years ago and destroyed the front end. The insurnace company and bodyshop did a fine job of fixing it. No frame damage, just needed a doghouse and radiator. The rear quarter panels could be repaired with patch panels or whole new panels that are readily available. The floor boards are not too bad but there are some small holes in the usual places. These cars are bad about the rear frame rails rotting out but this car has good rails. Heater blower works part of time and then not. I think it probably needs taken out and oiled due to setting so long. The car has been either under tarp or inside most of time. Last ten years was in a nice dry warehouse. As far as I know this car is complete. I did swap the staight column out for a tilt unit but I did it right. All wires have factory connections no splicing. The stock wheel was in bad shape so I put in a cheap grant wheel which seemed cool at the time. The dash is surprisingly perfect, no cracks or blemishes. The radio hole has not been violated like some that you see all cut out. The factory hub caps are in the front seat. I put on rallies at some point just to get the better tires that were on them. Air cleaner and a few other parts like windsheild wiper arm are in the back seat. This car would make a great tribute W30 or 442. These are getting hard to find so don't delay if you want it. It is priced right for a solid project car. Happy Bidding! Note: As you can see in the pics I have this car out for $1995. I'm not having much luck selling it here in our little town so I am listing it on the auction cheap. Answers to Questions. The transmission in the trunk is from my cousins pickup truck twenty years ago. It is not for the car. TH 400 I believe. Bonus! Yes the rockers are solid, no holes. These appeared to have been galvanized in the factory. Probably inside and out. Very strange, only car I have ever seen with no paint left on rockers and still solid. No the car does not have AC but it is interesting that it has two sets of vent knobs which can be seen down by the inner rocker or kick panel in some of the pics. The top knob supplies air to the dash vents while the bottom knob supplies air to the floor vent on each side. Cool feature that I have never seen in any other car. Of course if you're a skilled restoration guy or gal you can put AC in the car fairly easily.
