Vehicle Detail
You are looking at a 1971 Ford Ranchero 500. This is a solid original Black Plate Grabber Green Ranchero 500 with a great running 351C-2V with automatic. This was a registered semi-daily driver truck used on a farm when I bought it in California last year, still has its original Black California Commercial Tags on it!! I have just driven it in the neighborhood since I have had it and it runs and drives good!In fact I bought this truck specifically for the drivetrain to put in a '71 Ranchero GT Project I have and when it got here it was just too decent a truck to kill for the drivetrain!Straight and Solid Ranchero from California, but certainly not perfect, nor rust free. It was used for many years as a Farm/Ranch/Work Truck north of Bakersfield and shows it in it's 'Farm Truck' patina. There is some minor rust in the cowl, the floor board; a little in the left front door jamb, small area in the bed and lower 1/4's area. This is from drains being clogged or dirt/mud caked on the car. Nothing major and certainly nothing terminal. This is not a Rotten Salt Fed East Coast or Rust Belt truck....It is from Cali and the truck does look it!!! Besides the rust that has already been mentioned the truck is from the dry California Desert! It has been a work truck all its life and has done the job!! This is a decent truck but needs a few things before I would call it a driver. Truck Runs good and cool. Even though I drive it at the shop every couple of weeks the fuel has gone bad in the tank and it wants to plug up the fuel filter. I have to blow the lines out every so often, so a good tank flush would be in order. Transmission shifts fine, no issue there. The column shift linkage is getting a little sloppy from years of use though. Brakes work good. AC compressor and condensor while not on the car ARE included! Tires are old and will need replacing at some point. Windshield has a crack also. The interior in the car is decent with the bench seat upholstery and carpet having been replaced in the not too distant past. Dash has a crack and radio opening has been trimmed for an aftermarket radio.Car came equipped with Power Steering, Power Disc Brakes, AC, Tinted Glass, and Trailer Tow Package. The 15 inch Magnum 500's and GT Hood were added sometime later.I have the Deluxe Marti Report on it and shows to be 1 of 176 with its paint and trim codes. It is an original 1971 Grabber Green Ranchero 500 with a Black Vinyl Top and a Black Bench Seat Interior. On the Marti it shows as being ordered as a Ford Motor Company Marketing vehicle and was delivered to the Ford Marketing Corporation in Pico Rivera, California when new. My Father ran the FCSD facility for Ford Motor Company in Pico Rivera at that time and he used to refer to these types of vehicles as a 'Pool Car' that different employees could take and use when they needed something different than their usual company issued vehicle. My dad used to bring these home for my School Paper Drives (Remember those?) and leave the Lincoln at the office. Anyway, a good running, driving, California Black Plate truck that does need some tinkering with to just use as a work truck or restore as a Super Cool Ranchero in the oh so cool Grabber Green Hue!!!!
