Vehicle Detail
1971 Pontiac Firebird Formula 400. VIN number check proves car to be an original Formula Firebird. Car now has a 1974 455 (Y9 coded) engine and turbo 400 (do not know if it's original to the car). This firebird was going to be built restored as a replica of the Black Trans Am Firebird chase car in the Corvette Summer movie (see last 2 pics). The hood already has the hole in the center for the shaker air cleaner scoop. Car has clean Oregon Title and has been off the roads since 1996. Car is a restoration resto-mod project car and does not run. I do not know of the overall condition of the engine, trans and rear. They all appear average and I would definitely tear down and rebuild the engine and trans or add the ls1 or lt1 350 with t56 6 speed. the body need average smoothing and prep. The rear quarter panel passenger side pretty good with little rust and the drivers has lower rust, looks like a rear lower section patch will do, not a full quarter. Very little rust in the rear pass side floor board and its just surface rust, not rotted thru. The trunk floor has the worst rust I found (see pics) and should be replaced. the dual snorkel hood needs repairs because it has some chips in it. The rear trunk lid has a rust hole (looks like this was a non rear spoiler car and some one threw this rear spoiler decklid on it with the rust hole already there allowing water to ruin the trunk floor). Windshield is cracked. The front nose end piece is rough and the front valance (not pictured) is rough too. I would replace both and use the trans am lower front spoiler valance Interior is complete with its center console panels and seats. the two front seats are not original to the car and are some type of performance buckets with tilt backs. No carpet. the interior of this car will need to be restored and the headliner too. Dashboard looks pretty good. Last, very cool Trans Am clone project very worth doing. These cars in restored condition are ranging $30 to $40 thousand. Shipping is very easy and is the responsibility of the purchaser. I have shipped and have had several cars running and not running shipped. I will assist with loading the car on a transport or trailer. I am in the Seattle/ Tacoma area,
