Vehicle Detail

I purchased this bike in April of 2008 with 8,055 miles on it. It was stored indoors and untouched for 20 plus years, a true time capsule. My goal was to restore it to as close to show room condition as possible, more on this later. Mechanical condition: The bike is in excellent running condition with no leaks and no abnormal noises. It pulls hard through all the gears. All lights on the instrument panel work as new, with the exception of the battery level light, which will only work with the correct original battery, which I believe is no longer available. The shift indicator LED on the instrument panel works as it did from the factory. The brakes function like new. Cosmetic condition: The bike has all of its original paint with the exception of the gas tank, more on this later. The two side covers are in excellent condition with the original unrepaired tabs. To find the side covers with all their original tabs is extremely rare. During the restoration process 90% of the chrome pieces were replated and 90% of the aluminum pieces were professionally polished. The seat is original and is not split in the normal place that these seats split. Unfortunately the left side has 2 very small tears as shown in the pictures. THE RESTORATION DESCRIPTION Engine/Transmission: The engine is original to the bike and has never been removed or opened. At the time of the restoration I had the valves adjusted and the timing set. The mechanic that performed this worked at Allentown Suzuki in the late 1970's and early 1980's. He had assembled and worked on many GS 1100E's. He now works for Blackman's Suzuki in Emmaus, PA. Brakes: The front and rear master cylinders were rebuilt, all new OEM brake hoses were installed. The two front and rear calibers were rebuilt and new brake pads were installed. Suspension: The front fork oil was changed, and the air pressure in the front forks was checked. The 25 year old dried out rubber bushings in the swing arm that the lower part of the shock gets bolted to were pressed out and new OEM ones were pressed in. The rear shocks were replaced with progressive brand shocks. I still have the original shocks. Electrical/Charging: The bike has no problem holding a charge, but I did have to change out the original rectifier/regulator with an after market one. I do have the original rectifier/regulator. I do have a trickle charger lead hardwired to the battery. The trickle charger will be included in this sale. Wheels/Tires: The bearings in the front and rear wheel were replaced. The aluminum on the wheels was professionally polished to a high luster. New Dunlap tires were mounted on both wheels. Gas Tank/Carburetors: The inside of the gas tank had slight surface rust, so I shipped it to Moyer Fuel Tank Renu in Greensburg, PA. Their process guarantees the inside of the tank will never rust. Unfortunately with their process the tank must be repainted. The tank was professionally repainted and a exact replica decal was applied with many coats of clear coat over the tank and the decal. A new petcock was also installed in the tank. The level gauge still works like new. The carburetors were sent to Wired George of Texas for a complete rebuild. Once the carburetors were installed in the bike they were balanced by my professional Suzuki mechanic. Foot pegs: The rider and passenger foot pegs were completely disassembled the chrome parts were replated and the aluminum parts were professionally polished. The 25 year old dried out bushings that go in the riders chrome bracket were pressed out and new OEM bushings were pressed in. The foot pegs were then reassembled using all new hardware including the chrome allen bolts. I even went as far as to replace the small black plug that goes in the allen hole of those chrome bolts. Exhaust: The original exhaust had surface rust so I replaced it with a Vance & Hines 4 into 1 header. I do have the original exhaust and will include it in the sale. Chain/Sprockets: I changed the rear sprocket to the correct OEM 42 tooth sprocket. The original owner had a after market 41 tooth sprocket. The chain was replaced and is seamless (no master link). Hardware/Misc.: I spent hundreds of dollars replacing tarnished nuts and bolts with Suzuki OEM hardware to achieve the look this classic superbike deserves. I even went as far as to replace the little sticker on the chain slack adjuster indicating when the chain should be replaced. IN CONCLUSION I think I have achieved my goal of restoring this superbike to as close to original condition as possible. Since the restoration this bike has been 100% reliable. The reason I am selling it is, I had my fun restoring it and riding it for the last 6 years and now it is time for someone else to enjoy it. All the old parts including the original owners manual and service manuals will be included in this sale. All replacement parts were OEM parts purchased from Bike Bandit with the exception of the rectifier/regulator, exhaust and the shocks. If you would like additional pictures please E-mail me and they will be provided for you. If you would like to call me for any questions or concerns regarding the bike my phone number is 484-345-1172 please DO NOT TEXT I will not respond to text messages. Also, I strongly recommend that if you are interested in placing a bid to call me to set up a time to see the bike. I guarantee you will not be disappointed. As far as shipping, I will not crate the bike but I will deliver it to a freight carrier of your choice as long as it is somewhat local to me.
