63 Mercedes Benz 230 SL – 4 Speed Manual Transmission, AC after Market non functioning (see pics). Send email if more pictures are needed. This car runs & drives but the interior, top & paint need to be redone. This car was owned since 1981 by the person who just donated to a local charity who we are selling it on behalf of. According to him the car was stored until July 2005 in Walnut Creek CA at which time it was taken to a local independent Mercedes shop York Motowerke where it stayed until August of 07 and received $11,734.00 in necessary mechanical repairs for which we have the receipts. The repairs included brake system, fuel system, cooling system, transmission service. Motor mounts, hoses, differential service, etc… (see pics) In August of 2007 the car was picked up and driven what appears to be 7 kilometers (note the speedometer/odometer are in kilometers) – Not sure but this may indicate a car originally built for European use! Grey market??? We do not know. The registration was brought current at this time but has since lapsed DMV is showing $870.00 due if it is to be re-registered in California ( it may be possible to get back fees waived as vehicle was stored on private property & not driven from 2008 till present. Although DMV seems inconsistent on whether or not they grant waivers of back registration). The car was picked up and trailered to us on 4/21/14. We changed 2 fuel lines and flushed out the old fuel and checked all other fluids, car starts right up shift and stops fine although there is an intermittent rough idle (not sure of issue).
