Vehicle Detail

For your consideration: This lovely 1927 Model T Deluxe coupe is a wonderful example of the T's last year of production. It has a colorful history and has spent all of its known life in Reno, NV. It was previously owned by legendary silver coin collector, real estate investor, millionaire (back when a million was still a lot of money), and noted eccentric, LaVere Redfield. Redfield is famous in coin collecting history for the size of his collection (approximately 407,000 silver coins, mostly Morgan silver dollars) and dislike of the IRS. A web search on "LaVere Redfield" or "The Redfield Hoard" will provide more information. One famous story involving Redfield's unique style - he once attended a real estate auction dressed as a potato farmer (his usual attire) carrying two paper grocery bags containing more than $200,000 in cash and a batch of oatmeal cookies. He also had a backup fund in the pocket of his blue jeans: a large roll of $1000 bills. He proceeded to eat the cookies and bid on land, buying a lot of acreage that day. He eventually amassed a real estate portfolio of approximately 51,000 acres in the Reno and Lake Tahoe area. Redfield kept this Model T Deluxe in a garage near his home in Reno. In early July of 1950, he accidentally ruined the car when a pile of grass and leaves he was incinerating burned out of control, destroying the shack and scorching the Model T parked inside. Redfield later gave the wrecked car to my father at no charge. (See photo of article.) My father spent the next 22 years restoring this Model T. It was put in deep storage in approximately 1978 and has not been driven since that time. My father's attention shifted to restoring 1960s cars and the T was kept in storage, untouched, for the next 36 years. At some point in the mid-1990s he removed the seats and interior door fabric for reupholstering and they were subsequently lost. Replacements are readily available online. A few tools and parts are included with the Redfield Model T Deluxe coupe: Floor boards Vintage brass tire pump Vintage valve reamer Chrome lug wrench One Ford wrench Miscellaneous wrenches NOS Brake pedal rubber cover NOS Clutch pedal rubber cover NOS Reverse pedal rubber cover Vintage speeder socket wrench Ford Instruction Book A few small parts (including what look like some interior door handles or window cranks) Note: This Model T is not currently running. The winning bidder will have to arrange vehicle transport accordingly. There is a reasonable reserve for this historically significant Model T Deluxe coupe.
