Vehicle Detail
The Jeep has been modified with steel armor quarter sections that replace the original rear fenders and 6” Tube front fenders. These exterior steel modifications eliminate the original fenders are give the Jeep additional tire clearance and increase the off-road durability. The original fenders are injected molded plastic and are expensive to replace if damaged. This Jeep has been rolled and has suffered excessive damage to the body structure particularly in the right cowl (point of initial impact) and the instrument panel components. The roll cage is damaged also. Since the accident, the engine is not running, however, there is no visible damage to the engine compartment. NOTE: No specific diagnosis of the mechanical issues are being offered or implied. Engine/Engine Compartment: The original engine is an in-line 4.0 Liter with fuel injected. Power steering, power brake and air conditioning are components verified in the engine compartment. Chassis: The chassis is four-wheel drive and uses Dana 44 front & rear differentials. Both axles have locking differentials built by Tochigi Fugi Sanjyo. These lockers are actuated by air pressure, and a dash mounted switch, locks the rear axle and toggles the front axle locker on and off. The jeep has adequate ground clearance and suspect that a lift kit has been installed. Everything is painted flat black which makes the springs and suspension components hard to identify. The front stabilizer bar is oversized and has adjustable links for tuning the off road handling. A frame mounted 9,000 lb. Warn winch is installed. The brakes are four wheel disc. The wheels are the original aluminum alloy’s that are standard on the Rubicon. Two of the wheels have slight damage which is cosmetic only and does not effect the integrity of the wheels. The ground tires and spare are Cooper Discoverer “AT3” 31.5/75 Rx16” and have very low miles. These tires are slightly oversized from original equipment. The specifications from Jeep show the Rubicon with 31” tires. The transmission is an automatic and the transfer case in the Rubicon has a 4.0:1 low-range. Heavy steel armor skid plate protect the chassis components. Interior: The interior has high-back cloth bucket seats. The seats are dirty but appear to be useable and only require clean-up. The instrument panel has damaged components related to the HVAC controller which is removed from the instrument panel. The inertia from the impact when the vehicle rolled has created damage to the plastic instrument panel components. Close inspection by a trainer Jeep mechanic may be necessary. The center console has a floor mounted shifter. The roll cage is heavily damaged at the right front “A” pillar. A good fabricator could replace a section of the cage but replacement would be optimum. The rear seat is covered with loose parts from the Jeep. The folding black vinyl top is damaged and will require replacement to be excellent. Exterior: The exterior body is heavily damaged in the right cowl area which was driven downward when the vehicle rolled. The left cowl has lighter damage. The 6” tube style fenders and armor flat-plate rear panels appeared to protect the rear section of the body. The spare tire and tailgate area appeared to be undamaged. The windshield assembly is destroyed. The doors have been removed and are not the solid steel type. The sheet-metal on the doors is wavy. The door panels appeared to be undamaged. The hood has heavily damaged and will require replacement. There is no obvious fluid leaks visible. The radiator support jounce bumpers hit the frame rail hard especially on the left side. Slight damage occurred and the radiator should be inspected for damage.
