Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a 1977 Dodge Monaco DECOMMISSIONED TV Show Dukes of Hazzard Sheriff car. It originally came from the Chicago area. Here is the rest of the story. I purchased this car in MO. The car originally came from Covington, GA then it went to AR. The owner from AR purchased the car from a salvage yard in 1986 in Covington, GA. Then he sold it to an individual in MO, next I purchased it!! The car was supposed to be one of the state sheriff cars that was in the second season of the TV show Dukes of Hazards. There were 10 cars that were purchased from Chicago and they were shipped to Covington, GA. All 10 of them were supposed to have been wrecked. This Monaco is supposed to be the only survivor. All the cars were sold to a salvage yard in GA. And this Monaco was supposed to be the only one that was not crushed and instead fixed back up by a salvage yard. These Monaco’s can be seen as the sheriff vehicles in the 1980—1985 seasons of The Dukes of Hazzard, most of these cars were destroyed in stunt crashes. I tracked it back to the salvage yard, but they went out of business in 1999. I can not prove this story; all I can do is tell you the unfounded information. I have tried to track the information down but have not been able to prove any of this story. So this is the end of this story. Contact me for further information on the history of this great vehicle. Since I’ve owned the Monaco I have completely repainted the car, it was painted by a certified paint shop. This paint job which is above average was done one year ago. It comes with new decals, such as County Sheriff Hazzard County, from the TV show Dukes of Hazzard. The Monaco is 99% rust free. The chrome is above average, the stainless steel is nice. The mechanical work that has been done is all brand new brakes, newer tires, new muffler system, new shocks, the rear shocks have not been put on yet but they come with the auto, new fuel tank sending unit, rebuilt carburetor, new battery, new coil, new fuel pump, new modular, new plugs and wires. It has been completely tuned up with all brand new belts, wiring, etc. All brand new front end parts. At one time this car had a sway bar on it but it is no loner on the automobile. The speedometer makes a light noise. The AC was switched over to the new Freon, but it needs to be charged. You could drive this car anywhere, it runs great. The only thing I feel it needs is a front end alignment. New windshield, the side glass and back glass is near perfect condition. The interior has been completely redone with new carpet, new headliner, the door panels have been redone, rear deck, new trunk mat, the seats are like new. All the lights work perfect, it has a beautiful chrome spotlight, there is an additional spotlight that comes with the car that has a broken lens. A set of vintage red lights that were used in the 70's that go with the car, email me for picture. The siren works excellent they are in excellent shape; concerning the S- radios; it has a scanner system, federal light system, old time CB radio. It has all the radios that were used in 1977. It even has the big whip antenna on it. The radio system is currently not hooked up. Take a good look at the 4 hubcaps that are very hard to find, made by Chrysler. This car is an attention grabber! Great for parades and car shows. I guarantee you will get a lot of complements and praises on this car. I feel this car has so much history and it is truly a trophy winner. The reason why I am selling the car is because I am semi-retiring and planning on moving to Florida this winter, so am selling most of my personal collection of autos. If you have any questions or any concerns feel free to give me a call. I hope that who ever purchases this car enjoys it as much as I have over the years. Good luck to all you bidders, Dave. I also know a gentleman that is a reasonable transporter. I have the right to end the auction at any time. Concerning payment, $500.00 paid through PayPal within 24 hours and the rest by certified check, no later than 7 business days. If you do not plan on paying for this automobile, please do not bid and make it easier on both of us. Call Dave @ 402-890-2726
