Vehicle Detail
1985 Toyota 4X4 Pickup / For sale by original owner. Bought new in June 1985 from Michael’s Toyota in Bellevue. This truck has been a daily driver for the past 29 years. It has been well used, but always professionally maintained using high quality parts. The truck is mechanically sound and dependable. It does however have the signature Toyota rust problems in the bed and some small rust spots on the cab. I had Chip Grove, the owner of Customs Northwest asses its condition for re-painting. He said the rust areas on the cab seem to be isolated and totally repairable, however the bed is a lost cause and it would simply be too time consuming to repair the rust problems on a bed that is prone to these problems from the get-go. He suggested replacing with an aftermarket fiberglass bed. We have just kept driving the truck as the bed rust is a cosmetic problem, and with a little rubbing compound now & again, we think the bed looks O.K. from a distance. If we were going to keep the truck we would without a doubt invest in a new bed, but the truck is simply too small for our family. Interior has the wear & tear of a work truck, but everything is intact & functional. Since replacing the carburetor the truck has a bit of “engine run-on” or “dieseling” when turning off the motor. We have had the carburetor jetting and ignition timing double checked and the truck runs well so we have just gotten used to giving a bit of clutch & brake while shutting off the engine. Apparently this is a common symptom associated with using an aftermarket carburetor, but we are told that the re-built stock carburetors are not sound after having almost 30 years of use. Ready to drive. No oil leaks. Engine rebuilt at 200k. Not a “crate motor” replacement, but a full rebuild of the existing motor done by a professional machine shop / Toyota engine builder using factory parts. All key engine components replaced at time of re-build (Clutch, radiator, fan clutch, hoses, belts, plugs, plug wires, ignition module, etc-etc-etc…) New Weber Redline 2b Carburetor installed with engine rebuild (stock carb & air cleaner included in sale)New muffler & tailpipe professionally installed last monthARB / Old Man Emu leaf springs, bushings, shackles & shocks professionally installedBF Goodrich 31 x 10.50 x 15 Mud Terrain tires on alum wheels professionally installed along with ARB suspensionAxles & transfer case professionally serviced at 190KKenwood CD player / stereo & speakers professionally installed last summerRack-It fully welded lumber rackPlastic bed liner
