Vehicle Detail
1981 Porsche 911 SC Targa, Platinum metallic with black interior, 127,500 original miles. Excellent overall condition with one high-quality respray in the correct original color. All updates including Carrera chain tensioners, airbox popoff valve, Keuhl center vent. Car starts, drives, steers, shifts and brakes like a 911 should. Lowered slightly to Euro-spec, body-color Fuchs wheels with BFG tires (approx.30% rear 50% front). New Targa bar seal (Targa in very good overall condition with no rips/tears/wear on the outer vinyl skin. Gauges/lights all work as they should, recent ignition switch replacement. A/C compressor replaced with Sanden unit; blows cool but not super cold. Body is completely rust-free. Older respray shows very minor stone chips on the front fascia and a couple touched-up chips on rear fenders; there’s also a small peeling patch at top of windshield; paint condition overall is excellent. Exterior rubber also in very good condition.Interior is in excellent condition with proper patina for a 33 year-old car on the leather seats -- no rips or tears, just the expected creasing No dash cracks or flaws, carpets very good; sunvisors could use replacement. Fully maintained and running Swepco trans oil/Brad Penn engine oil. Complete service, repair and maintenance records since 1994. Needs nothing to drive and enjoy daily. Located in Detroit suburbs, but don't let that scare you: Most receipts and service were done in California and Oregon where the car lived most of its life. This car has NOT been on salt roads since I've owned it and shows no signs of ever having been in salt. RUST FREE. This exact car is represented in the video located here, which also demonstrates the car's exquisite-sounding exhaust system:http://youtu.be/w7qVyKKE0UMUPDATE 4/18: I've had a number of requests for pre-purchase inspection, and timing is going to prevent multiple PPIs. The car did go in for an inspection this morning at a local Porsche/Audi dealership, and the following issues were identified: oil seepage around engine (mechanic's comment: Seen worse, seen better, typical for the model), tie rod boots and rack boots deteriorated (but steering is very tight), RH front wheel bearing needs tighening/repack, LH rear wheel bearing needs tighening, wipers work but do not return to Park position, reverse light switch missing/inoperable. Idle speed was reset to spec at the dealer. The Buy it Now price has been lowered to accommodate the car's needs. That's what he found. In other words, it's a 33 year-old K-jetronic SC with 125k miles -- please don't expect this to be a pristine 993. It's a very nice example of its breed.
