Vehicle Detail
This is a near-legendary motorcycle, so I will assume that if you are looking at this, you already know something about it. This is the starting point for BMW motorcycles that are raced in the famous Paris-Dakar rally. This moto is similar to the stock F650, but features larger wheels, increased shock travel distance, and a more padded seat. It is great as an off-road moto, but can also be set up for long distance touring due to the upright sitting position. This is the smaller engine size, 650 cc, which tends more toward off-road due to the lighter weight and long shock travel. I have owned it since 2003, when I bought it from the original owner...a friend who barely put any miles on it before his kids were born. Since then, it has been taken care of consistently by BMW Motorcycle dealerships in Virginia and Oregon and has never had an accident or incident of major service. This European built Rotax motor can, and does, run forever and these things are known to go for the long haul...considering this one has been garage stored and used sparingly and has only 10,000+ miles, there is a long life left on the motorcycle. This moto is set up more for touring with a BMW helmet/storage box, and twin Pelican side cases that were professionally mounted on a Tourtech frame rack. That means you can comfortably load up this moto with enough stuff for a long extended weekend of touring with no trouble. On the other hand, in 5 minutes you can remove the helmet box and side boxes and head off-road to explore the fire roads and trails you find. The entire moto is stock and has not been messed with...no customizations so you know you are getting a BMW factory spec moto. The only flaw is a wiring harness plug that was damaged and has been removed and wired directly to the attachment by a BMW mechanic - the plug was then reinforced and insulated to be solid and waterproof. See the picture with the blue wires of the wiring harness for reference. This work was done approximately 5 years ago and no problems since. There are two ways to exchange this motorcycle: the first is to pick it up locally in Newport, CA; the other is I will drop it at a motorcycle shop or your choice of authorized shipper within 30 miles of area code 92657 and you can arrange to with them to have it shipped. I will not arrange shipping and will simply drop it off with a complete list of contents and documentation.
