Vehicle Detail

This car would be a great project for someone to complete and is being offered as a no reserve auction. It is a 1965 Mustang Convertible that came from the factory as a "C" code 289 V8 car and is a factory "J" code RED car. Door tag reads 76a j 26 21u 11 6 6. This car has spent over a year in a restoration shop. This is not your typical rusted out convertible- it started out as a nice original builder. The body/chassis: There is new floor sections as shown, full length inner rockers and front torque boxes. The front rails and shock towers are nice, even the rear torque boxes look pretty decent. One side of the rear frame rail at the end near the taillight panel it is starting to bulge a little meaning it’s getting to a point where you may want to patch or replace the last 8 or so inches. It seems like the shop did a decent job but funding went dry so the work stopped and I know that at least one of the front torque boxes needs to be finish welded to the inner floor support- I would also clean up the work done on one toe board and in general check all the welding for completeness. There is some rot in the rear quarter panel lips, bubbling and body work needed as shown. The front fenders, doors, and quarters all appear to be originals and savable. The hood is solid however I would probably replace the trunk rather than fixing it since they are so cheap. The door bottoms are the best I've seen on an unrestored car. Overall, it’s a very solid start as you can see in the pictures. Interior: As you can see in the pictures, much of the interior is in the car but the pieces don't match and need to be reupholstered. The dash is a nice original. Some pieces like the door handles are missing so what you see in the pictures is what you get. The car does not have an engine or tranny but those are easy to find and cheap. The top needs a new rear plastic zip up window and has a couple minor slits but is in overall solid condition. The top is also a power top and is in good working condition. The car will need a gas tank (cost around $100 new) and in general will need to be gone through to get her on the road again. The car has new rear leaf springs and shackles on it so it doesn't sag like most convertibles and there is a new trunk mat in the box of misc parts shown that’s included. Please ask any questions before bidding as it’s sold as is where is. The car will be sold with an official CT Bill of Sale Form H-31. NO OLD REGISTRATION OR TITLE AVAILABLE - BILL OF SALE ONLY. CT is a non-title state for cars this old. A $200 Paypal deposit is due within 48 hours of auction end, full payment within 7 days of auction end, and vehicle pick-up within 14 days of auction end. Good luck!
