Vehicle Detail

Up for sale is my 1971 Triumph 650 Tiger which I've owned for the last 30 years. I let my '70 Norton Commando get away, and swore that wouldn't happen again, but after 30 years it's only fair to let someone else get her back on the road and enjoy the ride. Back in the day I had worked with Cliff Guild's wife, Sonny Routt's nephew, and hung out at Gene Thompson's shop (Godspeed guys), but never capitalized on the wealth of knowledge and access to the "go fast" parts. (Too hung up on MX at the time) My loss! Anyway, I got this in 1984 without the title so the 100 or so miles in the first few years were on private farm roads (yes officer). It always ran fine. The seller said it was laid down and had to have the exhaust, fork tubes (by Frank), and gauges replaced (non-OEM speedo-no tach) so I'm not sure of the original mileage other than what might have been put on it in 12 or so years. I have been unable to locate this person since so the bike is sold without a title. The Triumph has always been stored in either a shed, barn, or house, but every fall (hmm, bad word choice, how about before each winter!) I would pull the plugs and squirt some WD40 or 30W lube down the cylinders and fill plugs for trans & clutch, then kick it over for a while, So the motor is free-never been stuck, but I won't try to start it because the gas tank is rusted out and the carb is crusty inside and I don't want that filth going into the motor. You would need a good tank, clean carb, points, battery, and fresh oil/gas to get it running again. In addition to the items to run, the tires and a few cables would need to be replaced and the brackets for the front fender and seat are missing. Other than that, it's about all there, just some squeaks, groans, and surface rust from 30 years of inactivity (sounds like me!) I can crate and put on a loading dock, but the buyer would have to arrange and pay for shipping, as always-local pick up accepted. P.S. Numbers DO match and ignition key functions correctly. No Title however. More pics available for the asking. Thanks and best of luck!On Apr-07-14 at 04:37:45 PDT, seller added the following information: Update. 4-5-2014 RUNNING CONDITION! Got a loaner battery, scuffed points with file, put starting fluid down sparkplug holes and she started after 6 kicks. Repeated process and started after 5 kicks. No ticks, knocks, or smoke was evidenced. That's what annual lube will do for you!
