Vehicle Detail

My 1967 Camaro Coupe drives as good as it looks; like the perfect mistress, it's easy on the eye and easy on your wallet.. The original engine has NOT been modified, except for an overhaul, and retains its original cast iron intake and exhaust and the correct Rochester Quadrajet carb. The original 2-speed Powerglide has been ditched for a 700R-4 4-speed automatic with overdrive, so that the car accelerates better and is actually pleasurable to drive at highway speeds where it can net as much a 22MPG! The rear end is the original 10-bolt Positraction, so it can scat when asked. BUT the advantage of this close-to-stock powertrain configuration is that it runs happily on pump gas, idles wonderfully and can handle the demand of modern stop-and-go driving conditions. I have been the 600hp big block, rock-crusher route before and while that is great for b.s. sessions and the occasional Saturday night drive-in car show, the upkeep and on-road anxieties are just too much for this aging car nut. I just want to drive, when I want to drive, where I want to drive, though I still appreciate all the "thumbs-up" the car gets. The only blatantly non-original engine item is the period-correct Corvette cast-aluminum valve covers. The mufflers have recently been replaced with new Flowmasters which give it the perfect sound. To my knowledge, the car has been in Georgia all its life, so it never got eaten up by the rust worms, though the floorpans have been replaced just from corrosion allowed to seep into the body and under the carpet. The job was well-done, but will not fool an expert by any means. Likewise, the quarters have been replaced, mainly due to dents and dings more so than rust, as evidenced by the fact that the trunk floor is original. There is no evidence of any serious collision in the past. There is no active rust on the car and any remaining perforations are well hidden and like the entire chassis have been treated with a rust inhibitor (POR-15?). The bodywork and paint are very good, but not show-quality, though the Z-28 stripes are very well applied and clear-coated heavily. The car was originally Butternut Yellow, so you can appreciate the need for a change in color! The front and rear spoilers are also Z-28 items so not correct for this model build (but they do look great and didn't we all add them back in the day?). :Likewise the 15 x 8" Rallyes are actually Corvette items, but the dog dish caps are 1967 specific and correct. Tires are new. The correct vinyl top has just been replaced this season and looks fantastic. I have the correct grille badge if you wanted to get a tad closer to original. I was attracted to this car originally because it was a high-option car that made it a bit more usable in today's world. The AC system is factory and was somewhat rare back in 1967. Currently the compressor clutch is seized. Less rare was the Power Brakes and Power Steering, both of which work wonderfully, though with a typical 60's feel. Similarly the Deluxe interior and factory center console where considered rare delights in the day, but add a definite touch of class to the car, along with the optional interior lighting group and pedal trim. The large console clock is original and, amazingly, keeps perfect time! Tinted glass was also optional. The original radio has been replaced with a retro-looking unit and speakers have been added. So that's the scoop. Again, I emphasize that the "selling point" of this car should be it usability and reliability, neither of which detract from its immense curb appeal. The car is completely ready for the road with no "gotcha's"; it starts every time (allow 30 seconds to warm up, however), idles and accelerates properly, shifts smoothly and rolls down the highway straight and serene. A word on pricing; if you are one who believes that you can buy one of the few "garage finds" still out there and get it to this condition for under $20,000, bless your soul and good luck. But please don't waste time sharing your hopes with me. I have thoroughly researched the price of these cars today, whether through N.A.D.A. (nadaguides.com/Classic-Cars/1967/Chevrolet/Camaro-Super-Sport/2-Door-Coupe/Values Average retail $25,500) or Sport Car Market Price Guide (Low $22,500 High $34,000) or Hagerty's (hagerty.com/valuationtools/HVT/VehicleSearch/Report?vc=440417 Average is $20,811) or Hemmings, where you really cannot find a running V8 for much under $20k in any condition. This is a fair price for a right car, though I will not miss the opportunity to sell the car over a few hundred dollars, so I have included the "Make Offer" option. Please feel free to contact me via eBay email with your questions and if they are good ones, I'll post for all to see. I only paid for 24 pictures here, but many more are available on Photobucket; email me and I'll send you the link (eBay will not allow it here). If you area serious buyer, but need to talk directly to me before purchasing, e-mail me and give me your number, okay? Happy bidding...
