Vehicle Detail
!997 ATK 250LQ. I bought this bike about 1 1/2 years ago because I always wanted an ATK. Just turned 60 years old, so reality set in and I decided that I did not need this powerful of a dirt bike. The bike was not running at the time so I rebuilt most of it excluding the lower case which was in good shape. I have rebuilt the top end with a new Wiseco Piston, rings, wrist pin, bearing and gaskets, Bled and reconditioned the brakes (pads and calipers are in good shape). Put new WP seals and 10W oil in front forks. Added a Uni double foam filter. Had new clutch cable made from old fittings. Bought new KTM radiator cap, no leaks in radiator. Brand new IRC Volcanduro tires front and rear. Bought a ATK OEM owners manual which has breakdown of carburator, electrical wiring, suspension, brakes and several other items not found in a typical service manual. Since doing all this work I have put only 1 to 2 hours on the bike to break in the new piston. In addition to the new parts listed on above that were mounted on the bike, I have a box of engine parts including the lower half of another '97 ATK 250LQ engine. Extra gaskets, sparkplugs, and many miscellaneous items. I used the clutch out of the extra engine on the bike to correct a slipping problem. The good news is that this bike runs good and started up the other day on the 3rd kick after sitting for about 3 months in the garage. The only reason I am getting rid of it is that I turned 60 and reality set in, 'do I really need to ride this powerful bike in the woods. For those not familiar the bike was manufactured in Utah. The frame and various parts were made there and top grade parts were put on this frame, these include: Rotax 2 stroke engine (basically bulletproof), Talon Hubs with DID rims (which are DOT certified), WP suspension, Brembro Disc Brakes front and rear, Mikuni TMX carburator, Magura handlebars, Magura controls and numerous other top quality parts. The bad on this bike (trying to be completely honest). The former owner tried to paint the frame and did a poor job (frame was orginally blue now black). During the paint job the thin foil number plate was damaged to the extent that the serial # cannot be read but the motor # is still there and will be used on the bill of sale. The pictures look better than the actual bike, plastics are faded and scratched, wheel rims have small paint splatters on them that did not bother me so they are still there and can be easily removed, the shift lever has been welded but works (looks kind of bad see picture). The seat has a tear in the back where it sits on the plastic. Front fender has chip out of it near fork, does not affect the performance of the fender. Arkansas does not require a title for dirt bikes, since the serial # is not readible I will provide a bill of sale with the motor number and a copy of the previous owners bill of sale to me. Title is listed above as clear, eBay does not have a catagory for N/A. If you have any questions, please contact me. Thanks
