Vehicle Detail
2000 Jaguar XK8 convertible. Beautiful burgundy exterior with black top and back interior. One owner since new. Runs and drives well- just had new brakes and tires. It had new engine installed by Jaguar under warranty at 29,956 miles (see snapshot pic from Jaguar dealer service history). The car now has 103k. Great body with some minor dings here and there- see pics. Interior good overall. Has the optional 18” alloy wheels. Needs some TLC. Great project- make the small repairs now and enjoy it all summer. Everything works- radio, top, windows, AC, etc.,.- and comes with 2 remotes and 2 keys. Nice car and needs some TLC to be very nice: driver seat is very worn and needs repair, but the rest of the interior is pretty nice; the small plastic covers on the headlight washers are missing, there is a repairable crack in windshield above rear view mirror (not noticeable from diver seat), and the Jaguar emblem near trunk is missing the “J”. Note- the new engine was installed by a Jaguar dealership in late 2002 so it likely has all of the key factory engine upgrades such as the updated timing chain tensioners, steel sleeved block, etc.,. unlike the original engine. For exact details, refer to one of the pics- there is a screen shot from the official Jaguar service website showing the details of the new engine install- date, mileage, etc.,. Mechanically, the car is in good shape. The engine starts immediately, idles nicely, and makes no odd noises. The transmission shifts well- at this mileage it is due for a fluid/filter service. The steering and brakes all feel good with no issues. The ABS light does comes on intermittently, but the brakes work perfectly- this is known issue with the ABS module on these cars and the repair can be done at home by the do-it-yourselfer (details are online, on the jaguar forums, and elsewhere, or I can provide info). As you can see in the pics, the body looks great with just a few dings here and here (which may be removed with a paintless dent guy, or just leave it) Recently (and easily) passed the California emissions test and has clear California title (in my name) and current registration (good through February 2015). Selling at NO RESERVE- starting bid is far less than Blue Book Fair Condition value. Highest bid wins. Great car for someone who can do these small repairs themselves and have a nice XK8 at a bargain price. And at this sort of price, it's sure to sell, and sell quick. The car is located in Los Gatos California, 50 miles south of San Francisco. A $200 non-refundable deposit is due within 24hrs of auction end, and the balance is due via cashier’s check (or cash if a local buyer) within 7 days of auction end. The needs to be picked up no later than 10 days after auction end. Please keep in mind this is a 14 year old used car (and a Jaguar at that) so there may be other defects not noticed. Pleae feel free to ask questions, or ask for more info. My phone number is 408 839 5569 and I’d be happy to help Note- the car is for sale locally as well, so I reserve the right to end the auction early if a buyer is found.Buy it now- if you're interested in working out a price to buy the car without sitting through the auction, please give me a call. I'm sure we can figure something out. What I'm hoping to get in the end is $4500-$4700, which is still about $1500 under Blue Book On Mar-19-14 at 21:03:50 PDT, seller added the following information: Additional note to buyers- if you look closely at the vehicle history, you'll see that the car has only been driven some 3500 miles total in the last 3 1/2 years. The new owner should probably plan some major service before beginning to drive it daily- change all fluids and filters (including the transmission fluid/filter), check the accessory drive belt, overall brake check, etc.,. That's just good sense for a car that hasn't been driven much in several years. On Mar-26-14 at 07:29:53 PDT, seller added the following information: Note to buyers- I do have an extra black XK8 boot available- the upholstered cover that is put over the convertible top when it is folded down. These were a $400+ option from the dealer when the car was new. It makes for a much sleeker look for the car- smoothing it out and making it look very clean and sharp. Although this boot did not come with this car, the winning bidder is welcome to purchase it at the end of the auction for $150 additional (which is a great price -check out what other used XK8 boots are selling for on Ebay- they are $200 and up). Or as a special offer, if the final price of the car in the auction reaches $4800 or higher, I will include the boot for free.
