Vehicle Detail
1949 Ford 2 door business coupe project car from California. I bought this car with the intentions of building it similar to this year's Hot Rod Power Tour Car, but have since decided to build my '38 sedan instead. Given that, something's got to go- my loss your gain. This car originally came from California and still wears the plates to prove it. It's in pretty good shape, with minimal rust in the typical places. The floors seem very solid as does the trunk. There's a little rust over the rear wheel wells, the driver's door lower corner, and the back corners of the front fenders. The interior is complete with the rare rear seat and all the trim. The dash is also complete, less the radio although I do have one not shown. The exterior trim is also complete less the body trim on the right side door and quarter. The grill is very straight and complete, both bumpers are also straight with a few small spots where the chrome is peeled. The car also has the rare 'Ford' dual spotlights, sunvisor, and mint rear fender skirts. 4 wide white tires still have the nubbies on the tread! Here's where it gets interesting. Somewhere along the line someone started to hot rod this car; it's got an 8" rear that appears to be rebuilt/ painted, new brake lines, new brake hoses, new rear leaf springs, new u-joints in the driveshaft, an automatic transmission, and what appears to be a rebuilt 302 V8 engine with brand new exhaust manifolds. I have not tried to start the engine as it still needs to have plug wires, cap, rotor, etc installed. The front suspension is a Mustang II style with power rack and pinion steering, front disc brakes, dual master cylinder, and Wilwood proportioning valve. Overall it's a pretty cool project with most of the hard work already done. The car still needs to be finished, but appears to be about 98% complete. I do have a pile of extra parts that go with the car including a box of carbs, extra wheels and tires, new marker lamps, original taillights, extra steering wheel and horn ring, extra arm rests, rubber parts, patch panels, distributers, etc. I did find the 4th missing hubcap after taking the pics. The car could be finished and left as a 'rat rod' or a cool hot rod- your choice! Please ask any questions and I'll try to answer them as best as possible. I welcome anyone that would like to come view the car in person. The car rolls and steers freely, so can be loaded onto a trailer easily and I can help with this. I DO NOT HAVE A TITLE, the auction does not give me the option of no title; bill of sale only; I do have the registration papers from California and the Iowa registrations as well so a title could easily be applied for; sold as is. $500 deposit due within 24hrs of end of auction unless other arrangements are agreed upon at end of auction, full payment due within 7 days. I can store the car for a short time as well after full payment. PLEASE DO NOT BID if you have 0 feedback or do not intend on making payment- don't waste my or your time please. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding! Be sure to check out my other auctions too!On Mar-19-14 at 19:21:13 PDT, seller added the following information: added pics of the tread on the tires; as you can see they're practically new. Also a pic of the power rack and pinion steering per request. Let me know if I need to add any more. Thanks
