Vehicle Detail

You are bidding on a 1968 ford mustang coupe that was part of a special promotion that included different colors for early holidays. The car was sold new in Denver and painted "Eastertime coral" for the obvious Easter holiday. My research has shown there may have been less than 10 of these painted this color. The door tag color code is blank and below the door tag is a small strip tag that has the paint code "wt9012". The door tag, dash pad vin tag and both aprons all match. The car needs a total restoration and is not complete. The sub frame rails, shock towers, tops of fender aprons are all solid and rust free. The doors look good and the front fenders can be fixed. The trunk lid is good and the hood may be useable but has some damage. It will need quarter work on both sides but the passenger side is really only rotted at the usual rear lower where it joins the quarter panel. The drivers quarter will need a skin up to the body line as it has a bad bondo repair and other damage. The driver trunk floor drop off and will need replaced as it looks like someone backed over something and bent it and the quarter upwards. The sub rail was not affected and is in great shape. The floors will need attention they look ok from the bottom but the top side is scaly and rusty. The roof and sail area is in great shape with only light surface rust. It has been "Shelby" dropped and someone added front and rear sway bars at some point. What you see is what's included nothing more or less. There is obviously no engine or transmission included. It rolls easy and steers for easy transport. It still retains its 5 lug running gear with drum brakes up front. This is a power steering car but as far as options this was a fairly plane jane car with standard interior, c4 auto transmission and standard 2.79 open rear end. Overall this is a great start to an unusual project car and the hard to fix areas are all in great shape which is a big time saver. The sheetmetal is hung temporarily for transport. I have the original owners manual showing some history on the car and I also have past owners information that will be given to the winning bidder. I take my auctions very seriously and want the same from bidders. I will help load on a trailer but transportation is entirely up to the winner. I want 500 deposit within 24 hours of the auction ending and the balance within 3 days. I will only release the car when I am comfortable with the funds. I have a clear title from the previous owner in hand ready to transfer into your name. Below is some information I found on the web: Below is part of a letter from Ford dated June 1968, that indicates the following 4 colors for the 1968 Color of the Month (Mustangs). The letter has a header indicating that the promotion might be only a Denver district area promotion but we have found cars painted these special colors ordered in Los Angeles and Newark which were built in San Jose (VIN staring with 8R) and Metuchen, New Jersey (VIN starting with 8T). For this reason, we believe the Color of the Month was a national promotion where Ford offered a color each month in the beginning of 68 at a special price, allowing the dealers to come up with their own sale and own paint names. This makes sense since we found specially gold painted Mustang promotions in January called the "Golden Mustang" and a "Special Dakota Days Gold Mustang", pink mustang specials in February, special green painted Mustang for a St Patrick's Day parade, and coral Mustangs in Colorado during April. On Mar-03-14 at 07:41:30 PST, seller added the following information: I now have the basic marti report in hand and confirms the special order "eastertime coral" paint code. I am happy to send it to serious buyersOn Mar-03-14 at 09:53:01 PST, seller added the following information: On Mar-05-14 at 12:24:03 PST, seller added the following information: I need to clarify something that has been brought up a couple of times. The marti report shows 5,063 cars with a special paint code for 1968. What this means is special paint code which could be a variety of colors NOT only Eastertime coral. This is what I was told directly by Marti Autoworks. So my research showing 10 or so painted this color may be close, but I doubt anybody really knows. I want you to feel comfortable with the car before bidding, I want no issues!!
