Vehicle Detail
1972 F250 Camper Special with Power Steering, Power Brakes, Automatic Transmission and 360 engine. Sport Custom trim package. 79000 miles. It has the top of the line for 1972, 8100 GVW package with the 3:73 rear gear. Background: I bought this truck from the original owner a couple of years ago. He gave me the original sales contract when he bought it new for $4250.00 at Ford dealership in Orange County, California. It spent most of its life in California with a 10' camper on it. He kept it inside when not in use and I have done the same. I have used the truck for my camper on trips over to the Appalacians. The camper and front tire carrier are not included in sale. Mechanical: When I got it the engine had a crack in the drivers side manifold where a mechanic had tried to change the exhaust manifold gaskets. The original owner had not had the heads re-done so I had them re-done( have reciept from machine shop)bought new exhaust manifold and had the carburetor professionally rebuilt. I cleaned the engine and bay and re-painted. The truck runs and drives extremely well. The vacuum gauge is nice and steady at 18. The exhaust is factory quiet. It has the big super cooling radiator. It's also set up for dual batteries and has camper hookups in bed. The brakes are almost new. The tires are well over 50%. I wouldn't hesitate to put the camper on it and hook up the four wheeler trailor and go to Alaska in it. Body: I've not found any rust through on this truck anywhere. The floor of the bed is basically dent free. There are a couple small ones on the humps and one on the top next to the cab. The tailgate is solid but there are a couple of dents on the very top edge. The rear bumper slides out for 10' camper. The paint is original and completely wore out. There are countless little paint dabs all over it where the original owner dabbed over nicks and scratches to keep them from rusting. There are no major dents but a few little dimples here and there. The windshield has a crack in the lower center. The original owner changed the factory mirrors. The factory mounts are still there and I have a good set of factory Camper Special 3 arm mirrors that go with it. Interior: It's in better than driver quality condition. The door panels, arm rests and dash are good. The steering wheel is good and doesn't have the usual big seperation cracks. The seat was reupholstered with a heavy material and has no tears. The original color coded floormat has a few cracks in it. The shift collar was changed and not re-painted. The turn signal cancel was replaced at the time. All gauges work. Original radio works. All heating components work. In fact I don't think there is anything on this truck that doesn't work. I've puchased a 1973 Camper Special that I've put my camper on. It has the usual body rot on it in several places so I don't mind driving it and having it out in the weather. This '72 is just to nice to use anymore. It would make a good show truck with paint, replacing some of the trim pieces, glass rubber and windshield. I have a 1970 Camper Special that is a show winner several times over and this one would be just as nice. You are welcome to come and inspect it or send an appraiser if you're not close. On Feb-26-14 at 06:16:47 PST, seller added the following information: Hello everyone; I've had a few e-mails from newer bidders to Ebay which I welcome. I'm posting this one and reply in hopes it will help. Hey David, i just have some questions to ask about this amazing truck. My dad was wondering how long has it been sitting? How would we do the transaction? Is the truck able to drive without any maintenance? How much time would we have to come by and pick up the truck? We live in the North West corner of Illinois so you can see it would take a little bit to come down if we do win this item. That is all i have for now. Thanks again and look forward to winning this truck. Adam - firefighteremt_92 Hello, The last trip I made to the mountains with the camper was last November (500 mile round trip). I drive all of my vechicles at least once every six weeks and keep a log to make sure I do. There is nothing that needs done to the truck to drive it anywhere. The oil is not even dark yet. The transaction will be as stated in the auction; a $200.00 deposit via PayPal within 48 hours of close and the balance in cash within 7 days. I do not accept PayPal for the balance. As stated in the auction the truck is to be picked up within 7 days. I can store it for a little while longer but the balance still must be paid within 7 days. If you're having it shipped I will work with your carrier as much as I can including taking it to Bowling Green (the nearest large town with major interstates) but not any farther. I notice you have a low transaction count; I welcome you're interest and bidding but please be aware the auction rules must be adhered to. This makes it fair for all of us. Thanks, David
