This is a fun car that attracts a lot of attention--even when parked! This auction is for my 1981 DeLorean DMC-12. I have owned it since 1997 when I bought it from a DeLorean enthusiast who belonged to a DeLorean Car Club. I believe he was the second owner. I drove it on special occasions and for fun (not for commuting). It always ran well for me, but eventually I had a few problems with the electrical systems (radio, windows,etc) and detached the electrical wire harness from the fuse box, which I removed. The electrical wire harness is there (detached) and there is a fuse kit that is partially installed. Later, I removed the starter intending to replace it as well. I got sidelined on other projects and just haven't had time to give the DeLorean the attention it needs. So, I have decided it's time to let it go and let someone else bring it back ("to the future") or from the past. It hasn't been run for several years and really deserves to have someone spend some time on it. The body is in good shape overall and the interior is good except for the driver's seat and visors. BODY: *very small (dime sized) ding on left rear panel *undercarriage has not been cleaned--some rust from what I can see *left tail pipe--slight bend at end of pipe *needs exhaust shield *gull-wing doors--both stay up, but passenger door needs work on outside handle *back panel (over engine) looks good, but doesn't stay up on its own *front windshield and all windows in good shape--no cracks or nicks *windshield wiper blades probably need replacing *seals and gaskets around doors and windows all show aging and need replacing *tires--original, still have good amount of tread INTERIOR: *seats--passenger seat is okay, but driver's seat has tears and rips in leather (see photos) *instrument panel and dash look pretty good--no cracks *glove box works *visors--need replacing *carpet in good shape overall--I didn't see any stains or rips MECHANICAL & ELECTRICAL: I removed the starter and the electrical wiring harness for replacement/repair, but I'm sure it will need more than just these two repairs as the car hasn't been run for several years. Just keep in mind I'm selling this as a non-running Project Car and I can't promise that you won't find other things wrong with it that I'm not aware of. I have listed everything I know about the condition of the car, but there could be issues I don't know about. This is a project car and is sold AS IS.
