Vehicle Detail

Please give the 90 photos time to load as they accurately portray the condition of the car. Also be sure to check out the video link. Car is being sold with an opening bid that is a small fraction of what I have in it, with NO RESERVE! Bid to own. If you have less than 5 feedbacks or negative feedback, please contact me before bidding so I know that you are a serious buyer and understand the terms of this auction. Up for auction is my rare, highly optioned 1967 Dodge Monaco. This is literally the little old lady from Pasadena's car. I bought the car a few months ago from a charity auction where it was donated. I no longer have a indoor place for the car so I am selling it with NO RESERVE! Although the current pink slip is from 1984, I was told that it was a garaged, one owner vehicle with 71k original miles. Judging from its condition, I have no reason to doubt this. Remember, it's only original once! In all my years of dealing with classic cars, I have never seen the body on a nearly 50 year old car in such incredible original condition. Other than some light surface rust on edges where the paint is worn thin, the car has ZERO rust anywhere, top or bottom. Not a single bubble or pinhole, period. From what I can tell, the paint is mostly original. The hood was probably repainted at some point. A minor crease was repaired on the left quarter panel. I only noticed this from inside the trunk where I could see the spots where they shrunk the metal back. There is no bondo whatsoever, just a highly professional metal repair. No overspray anywhere. The car has a fantastic patina that personally, I would not disturb. If you prefer it shiny, a touch up and high speed polish would go a long way. If you wanted to paint it, there would be very minimal prep work required. The doors open and close like new with no sagging hinges. All glass is excellent except the windshield. It has a crack on the passenger side well out of the driver's line of sight. Still has the Chrysler Airtemp sticker on the right rear window. There is no missing exterior trim. Spare and original bumper jack are in the trunk. Trunk mat is original and crumbling. All exterior lighting is in working order, including the turn indicators on the front fenders. Right high beam needs a bulb. Front bumper is missing some chrome and the taillights have one crack each. For being the original 47 year old interior, it is pretty nice. No musty, funky old car smell at all. The front seats have cracks as can be seen, the rear is still intact. Seat cushions are still very firm and comfortable. Dash and front armrests have cracks. Carpet is in good condition with only minor wear. Headliner is excellent. Power windows work (albeit a bit slowly) except the right rear. Vent windows work smoothly. Power seat works in all directions. Blower does not come on so the air conditioning and heat are untested. Everything is there, the belt is on and the compressor can be turned with your hand. Door locks all work from the inside and outside but the driver's inside lock knob drops down on its own, probably needs a spring. I keep a rubberband on it to prevent the keys from being locked inside. The original AM radio plays well but the volume control slips a little. Remote door mirror still works. Rearview mirror pivot needs tightening. Fuel and temp gauges are inoperative at present. Although the car is in running condition, the original 383 2 barrel will need some work. Please watch the video at the link below. When I bought the car, I drove it home about 10 miles. It performed really well except for a light miss. I did a tune-up on it the next day and took it for a test drive. A few miles in, I noticed that the miss was still there and there was some blue smoke from the tailpipe. Then I started to hear what sounded like a collapsed lifter. So I got it home and just as I pulled in the oil light came on. Since then I pulled and inspected the oil pump. I found no problem with it so I put it back on and changed the oil and filter. Oil light was the off even with the engine not running. I grounded the sender wire and the light came on so I took the sender off and started the engine. Oil came pumping out of the hole so it appeared to have oil pressure. I put the sender back in and ran it for 20 minutes but the oil light was back on (bad sender for sure) and lifter noise and smoke were still there. This is as far as I am able to go with it right now without a secure workspace, which regrettbly forces me to sell it. The car still starts first time, everytime, so loading for transport will be easy. I wouldn't drive it more than a few miles until the engine is gone through. Transmission shifts great, rear end is quiet. Front end, shocks, brakes and battery are fairly new and the car has a fantastic ride. Tires are matching and have at least 80% tread left. The original Certicard is still in place under the hood. One other thing, the yard rats at the charity decided it was too much trouble to change the mechanical fuel pump, so they rigged a AC Delco elecric pump in its place. Works fine but I would go back to original. This is a great cruiser that you don't see often. Go through the original motor and you could have the car on the road with a couple of weekends work. Parts are dirt cheap, too. Maybe you have another Mopar motor laying around? Would make an excellent sleeper car if you threw a Hemi or 440 under that low profile hood. Yeah, it's a 4 door but it is still rare and with a body like this, every penny you put into it is money well spent. As any restorer will tell you the greatest expense and difficulty in restoring old cars is repairing rust. I have done my best to accurately represent the condition of this car. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have questions. Just send your name and number through ebay and I will call. TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SALE: This is a NO RESERVE auction, high bid wins. You are bidding to OWN the car, not the right to inspect it. Full payment required within 7 days, no exceptions. Payment methods for balance are cash in person, bank transfer, USPS Money orders, verified cashiers check.
