The formula for the 1970 Plymouth Duster 340 was familiar. Take a cheap-to-produce platform, in this case a Valiant wearing a new fastback body, and treat it to a hotengine, here Mopar's respected 340-cid four-barrel V-8.The determined little Duster was lighter, roomier, and faster than the 340 'Cuda. With a base price of just $2,547, it was the lowest-priced car in Plymouth's Rapid Transit System. And it was the only one with front disc brakes standard. Darts and earlier-generation Barracudas to mid-14-second ETs at near 100 mph. It used a Carter AVS four-barrel and camshaft timing only slightly less radical than that of the mighty 440 Six Pack. The 340-cubic-inch engine made close to 325 horsepower, and the Duster came with an array of performance enhancers.In the Duster, the engine came with a heavy-duty three-speed manual or a choice of optional four-speed or TorqueFlite. A 3.23:1 axle was standard; 3.55:1 and 3.91:1 gears, plus a Sure-Grip limited-slip diff, were available at extra cost. All the information is per ©2007 Publications International, Ltd. With all that said. this car has been off the road since 1986. The reason is that the previous owner was hit from behind and just parked the car in his shop. The frame rails were bent some and I had my body shop straighten them. From underneath you will not be able to tell that anything ever happened. the car is all matching from drive train to wheels and lug nuts. It has not been messed with. To restore the car will cost the same as people do when they try to do slant 6's or 318's into a cloned performance 340. You will never have to say its a clone. This is a true numbers matching car with build sheet, fender tag and a clear title. motor turns freely by hand, will need to be freshened up. would not take much to get the car up and running and back on road. I would get it in driving condition and then drive it as is. later do a restore. will not find a true matching car out there for this price. Its a bench seat car and will need the bench seat along with the dash pad replaced. rust in rear passenger quarter as you see on the pics , the car has always been in Oregon, so it does not have the rust issues that the rest of the country has when it comes to snow etc. Please take a look at my feedback, you will see that I describe items correctly.
