Up for auction we have a 2007 Hyundai Sonata GLS . This car was a 1 owner vehicle donated to a local charity as a non running vehicle . I took the car to our mechanic who told me he thinks the engine may be locked up but I am having a hard time thinking that is the case for a number of reasons but that said plan on the worst and I have found used engines for $1200 on ebay with 78K for this car . The reasons I think it may not be terminal are as follows , it has a timing chain not a timing belt , the oil is perhaps a quart low , it has an oil change sticker in the window which I think is 3000 miles overdue so it is not that old either , the antifreeze is where it needs to be and the most important reason when I asked the mechanic what engine I need to find he said to me to get a 3.3 L engine and I asked him if he was sure and he said yes on 2 separate occasions ,the problem with that statement is this is a 2.4L 4 cylinder not the 3.3L V6 so I have to question if he really did look at the car as I asked as he was doing a favor and not getting paid to do it . Other than that the car has a 3 inch crack in the windshield , and it needs a door handle at the drivers side rear which is a common issue on these Sonata's and they are $30 new on ebay . Tires are a matching set of 4 and have around 40% life on the front and 80% on the rear . The car also needs a good clean and detail . We cannot sell this vehicle to a Maryland resident as it is unable to be inspected for obvious reason at this point . Please feel free to e-mail with any questions .
