We have a A8 Quattro with a bad transmission. Reverse drum is defective inside the trannie,so,it will not go in reverse,it will drive forward,however,after a few miles goes in limp mode and needs to be shut off and restarted,then its fine for a short distance,then it goes back in limp mode and so on...anyway,our transmission shop will doa complete rebuilt for around 1500$ with warranty,they did several VW/Audi's for me in the past,with no complaints...,it can be driven short distance like it is,however,more you drive it,more damage will do to the trannie. Extra clean car,from rural MI,not a city car,body looks very nice,clean inside. Engine runs great,brakes/tires/suspension,are in good shape,basically,the transmission is the issue. You can take it like that,or you can contact the transmission shop next to our business and they will rebuild it for you with warranty.
