Vehicle Detail
For your consideration is a very nice old 1951 - 463 series Willys Jeep 1/2 ton Pickup Truck. There are plenty of pictures and more can be supplied upon request. Please ask any questions before placing a bid. The truck is being sold "As-Is". Shipping is solely the responsibility of the purchaser! And lets be clear about one thing.......Cash only, with the exception of the $200 deposit...Paypal will do there. That being said, the odometer that came with the truck reads close to 55k, the engine in this truck does turn over but "does not start". The previous owner put a new starter in it and new battery leads. I placed a battery in it just to see if it would turn over and possibly start, but it would only crank over. The electric fuel pump supplied gas to the carburetor, however, there was no spark? Now, before you start to get too excited.....the previous owner told me the same thing and indicated that he believed the engine would probably need an overhaul as it is from the late 70's, and we all know how the 70's went! It does have the HEI distributor and electric choke. This truck is presently a 12V system. The truck has a good looking cab with its dent-less corners and original floors? The floors feel solid, however I did feel a few fingertip size holes.....the carpet material is glued down so there could be unforeseen issues as there typically is with any vehicle of this vintage. Depending on your plans, I believe you could just leave these floors alone and live with them the way they are? The cab corners look great inside and out (see pics). There is evidence of old rust under the cab channels/rails however they appear surprisingly solid. The front fenders, frame, suspension, hood, inner fenders and firewall appear solid. The grill looks really nice, however there are some odd weld points under the grill. I was told this is a typical repair made to the lower grill due to the fact that the front grill support bolt is typically rusted in place and the only way to free the grill for an engine replacement would have been to cut this area off to access the bolt and then re-attach it? The doors will either need repairs, or may need replacement (in particular the drivers-side) due to lower door rust issues...I have seen these for sale ranging from $200-250 each. The glass in the doors is also bad and will need replacement. All other glass is usable and in tact. The T-90 Transmission is nice and tight, and the Hi/Lo and Spicer Transfer-case appear to be in good great condition. (Note: This truck has newer WARN hubs, however, due to the placement of the V6 engine the front drive shaft was removed....I do not have the shaft). The top and rear cab are in beautiful condition (see pics) with only a few scratches on the rear of the cab. The roof is nice and not caved in! Steering appears nice with minimal backlash. The brakes do not work, most likely wheel cylinders? In my opinion the bed will need the most amount of work as many of the cross frame supports and corral posts are badly rusted. The bed itself does not look too bad. Included are a set of aftermarket fenders. I believe them to be a set of universal-type fenders and not factory replacements. There are brand new Mickey Thompson Alloy wheels and brand new Yokohama Tires that still have all the nubs (I have all of the chrome center-caps to go with the wheels)! Please be prepared to trailer this vehicle as it is NOT road worthy. I believe the previous owner was going to make a Rat Rod out of it? All of the gauges have been removed and are not present (at present, you would need 12V gauges in order to work properly with this engine. The rear axle assembly in this truck also appears to be original so I would not chance a tow dolly as I do not know its internal condition. The truck does roll free however it has no brakes. No title exists so this truck will be sold on a "Bill of Sale". Please ask any questions and I will be happy to assist where-ever I can. Thanks for looking! On Dec-11-13 at 12:04:56 PST, seller added the following information: FYI......picture #6 is a photo of the bed rail cross support and not the main body frame! The main body frame is very much intact with no serious issues or rust. As I mentioned above, the bed on this truck is going to require the most amount of attention. Please contact me if you have any other concerns. Thanks for looking!
