1980 BMW R100RT I have over $4,000 in receipts for service records I am selling this well maintained solid 1980 BMW R100RT. I have over $4,000 in receipts for service for this motorcycle. I purchased this bike from a retired military officer a few months ago. He was very meticulous about the upkeep for his motorcycles. The receipts will go with the sale of the bike. The bike is from Florida and was kept inside a garage for its entire life. The only reason the owner was selling the bike, he was just getting to old to ride. I purchased a couple of bikes from this same gentleman in 2007. All of the other BMW’s I purchased from him were in perfect mechanical condition. When he asked me about buying the R100RT, I purchased the bike sight unseen. I know the gentleman was very honest about the condition of this bike. The speedometer has been changed, the prior owner could not remember the exact mileage, and he thinks it was around 36,000 to 37,000 miles. He had 3 other BMW bikes he was riding. So the mileage seems about right. The bike had been setting for a few years. I installed a new BMW battery $130. Cleaned the carbs and she fired right up. The bike has just been serviced, new fluids, new fuel lines, new Karcoma petcocks $191.00, filters etc. Timing was checked with a timing light, mark lined up perfectly with the “S” mark. I have been riding the bike for a few weeks. The bike starts great, drives perfectly. The bike pulls strong. Brakes work great. Charging system is working perfectly. Tires are in good shape. The bike has a PRESTIGE alarm system on it. Pioneer stereo system and speakers, I don’t think the stereo is working? Might be a fuse? The previous owner had a cat and there are some scratch marks on the seat. The center stand is missing, one of these sold on E bay last week for $20 I own a low mileage 1976 R90S and we all know that bike is very fast. The R90S is 67 HP. This 1980 R100RT has 70 HP. A good friend asked me today which bike was faster. I told him it was hard to tell, I’ll bet it would be a good race. A set of bags / luggage / keys go with the bike. I have a CLEAR Florida title in my name, very easy transfer. This is a solid numbers matching bike. The bike has been repainted the paint is in good condition, there is a small dime sized bubble on the top of the tank. I have had the bike parked in my shop for about 2 months, there appears to be no leaks. This will be a great bike to purchase, get on her and ride. I don’t know of anything the bikes needs. The best part about this bike, the old BMW’s when they get to this age just hold their value exceptionally well. You can buy a lot of motorcycle for a small investment.
