Vehicle Detail
Rare 1978 Chevrolet Corvette L-82 Anniversary Edition up for auction with NO RESERVEAll original Vette with the desirable L82 350-cid V8, 220-hp, 4-barrel 350 V8, 44995 orginal miles. You can read about the 25th Anniversary Edition Corvette at this link: http://www.vettefacts.com/C3/1978.aspxI bought the Corvette from the second owner who had it garaged since 1986, I've only had it for a little over a year. I've put less than 1000 miles on it. I haven't done much mechanically, just new brakes all around, tuneup and an oil change. The only things that need attention are the passenger side muffler (it's gotten a bit loud) and the air conditioning compressor (it doesn't have a belt on it but turns freely). Over the last ten years the previous owner had the front end rebuilt, put in a new radiator, brake booster and master cylinder, rebuilt the carburetor, new shocks all around a couple of years back and put in a new alternator and battery shortly before I bought it. Everything except the a/c works; power windows are quick, headlights go up and down properly, heater and rear defrost, wipers, horn, and all directionals work. The rubber seals for the t-tops were replaced and the t-top liners inside are perfect.Cosmetically the Vette is in amazing original condition overall as seen in the pix. Interior overall in very good condition, dash, door panels and console close to perfect, seats don't even have the light surface cracking due to the low mileage. She could use new paint or a good compounding, it's dull overall but the body has no dings, cracks or scratches anywhere. Overall the Vette is very straight, all the panels and hood line up perfectly and the doors close easily, the hood opens and closes as it should and the t-tops unlatch easily and bolt down firmly with no fuss. It's obvious this car has always been treated with respect and never abused. Included are many goodies as seen in the pix: the original t-top bags, a Corvette fender protector for working on the engine, the original owner's manual, an assembly manual and a shop manual and the original radio. It's got an aftermarket cassette player, nothing was cut on the dash. She is a total blast to drive! I had a 79 Vette previously and the difference between the base motor and the L-82 setup is substantial. Cruises nicely on the highway, holds the road perfectly, tracks straight as an arrow and brakes evenly, no pulling or fading. She starts on the first try even in cold weather, idles perfectly, stops easily and the suspension is tight and responsive. Drives overall like an American classic sportscar should. I'm only selling due to finances.I reserve the right to end the auction early as the Vette is for sale locally and I'm open to reasonable buy it now offers as well. I can assist with shipping in the USA or internationally if necessary, cost of shipping to paid by buyer. If you need it I can recommend a door to door auto shipper I've used many times in the past; they're professional, reliable and have great rates. This is a NO RESERVE auction, top bidder gets her!Collectible Corvette which will only appreciate in value! Any questions feel free to call or email. 914-224-3230
