Hi, I am selling this motorcycle for my Son-in-Law who is in the US Navy and is being relocated. I personally am a retired Porsche/VW technician and motorcycle owner and will tell you all I know about this bike from the perspective of a professional mechanic. I was with my Son in Law when he purchased this bike 1 1/2 years ago. I test rode it first and was satisfied with it's performance. The previous owner (Motocross-racer) took meticulous care of the bike and had it serviced and rebuilt from ground up, by the dealership. Apparently he had the carburetors completely gone through in the fall of 2011 and new tires installed then. It started and ran fine at the time of testing and still does, so I don't doubt it. Bike appears to be all original with no signs of crashing or laying down. Frame and bright work looks good, I think it was always garaged. Notes today: Tires are indeed "new" with about 500 miles on them now. Battery new in summer (2013) Bike has sat most of this summer, but still started right up last week and idles fine. Bike accelerates well and pulls hard. Brakes are quiet, stops smoothly. Exhaust is in good shape. Looks and sounds good. Forks and shock seem to be fine, no apparent leaks, work well. All gauge functions are fine. Bike has 38,881 miles. Paint is original, respectable shape with a few nicks in rear fender and side covers. Both seats look almost new (possibly replaced within last few years), and thus are fine, no rips. Factory passenger seat is included, not shown in photos, nice shape as well, looks like it was never used. Included is an extra set of used mirrors, and hand grips. Bike comes with generic cover. (Basic but effective) This is the best I can do. Its a nice bike that's 24 years old. It's rare, it's in very respectable shape and seems to need NO work. I would not hesitate to take it on a 400 mile trip. We are in Minnesota, consider shipping cost when you bid. Last year I had a Ducati shipped from Ohio to Minnesota in enclosed van for $175.00, check them out. Good luck! I have no idea what that might have entailed, no idea if that was just a major check-over, or internal work on engine. I Do support that the Carburetors start and run very well, but can not verify anything else.
