1988 PONTIAC FIREBIRD FORMULA 5.0 45K ORIGINAL MILESRe-introduced by GM in 1987 as Pontiac’s no nonsense performance car to compete with the Fox body Mustangs, the Firebird Formula 5.0 was one of the best handling and looking American cars of the 80’s. This red 1988 5.0 liter Fuel Injected Formula is a high quality, 45k mile, bone stock example. Garaged since new, it has been pampered and meticulously maintained, clean history. The red exterior paint is original and shows extremely well. There are no clear coat issues and the paint has a high gloss finish all around. Please keep in mind the exterior is not 100% perfect – it has the usual small paint chips behind the rear tires and a few tiny ping dents. The rear aero wing shows the typical crack issues due to poor material selection by GM in the 80's. The pictures are an accurate representation of the exterior’s overall excellent condition. The 16 x 9 alloy wheels have just been professionally re-finished, and are now like new. Mechanically, one word describes this car….outstanding. Everything works as it should – gauges, headlights, horn, brakes, engine, transmission, turn signals, etc. The A/C was just recharged and blows ice cold. New parts include Eagle GT tires, heavy duty battery, fuel pump, idle control sensor and fuel hose. The original radio sounds great and all the speakers work as they should. Factory options include power windows / doors locks, A/C, power steering, power brakes, power hatch, cruise control, rear defrost, aluminum alloy 16 x 8 wheels, and the highly coveted T-Top option. The original GM t-top bag is included and is great for secure t-top storage while driving. The tops can be removed in a matter of seconds to experience and awesome open road experience. The interior has been impeccably maintained and remains in beautiful condition. This is a comfortable and reliable car - perfect for long stress free drives or cruise nights. The detailed undercarriage looks amazing, super clean, like new. The car is arrow straight and super tight. The engine compartment remains completely stock and tidy with no tampering whatsoever. The fuel injected 5.0 provides easy starts, crisp throttle response and plenty of low end torque. The 700R4 overdrive transmission generates positive shifts and the overdrive gear is perfect for low rpm highway cruising, returning an impressive 24 miles per gallon. The WS6 performance package and modern day Goodyear Eagle GT tires gives the car high performance handling – comparable to a new BMW 328 series on a skid pad.
