Vehicle Detail
I've been chasing Jeep vehicles for several decades and this is the nicest, lowest mileage, most original Jeep I've ever run across - especially considering that is will be FIFTY years old next year! If you can find a 1964 CJ-5 with fewer miles, more original, and with more factory options on it - then buy it and not this one... This Jeep was originally purchased by a local Steel company for the sole purpose of installing a sprinkler system in a golf course that they owned. I was told that oncethat task was completed it pretty much simply just stayed in the company garage of vehicles being driven occaisionally and inspected each year! I've owned it for probably fifteen or twenty years now and am not able to enjoy it as I should be doing so its time to find it a new home. As the new owner, you'll be only the third owner of this FIFTY year old Jeep and "Bubba" never had his hands on this one to mess it all up! Some of the Rare and uncommon features found on this JEEP... Dual Rear Wheels Factory half hard cab Front Power angle Push Plow "Go-For-Digger" Trencher Attachment Body wise it is really rock solid having spent its life indoors. There is a small dent in the LF fender which I have to admit doing while I've owned it. The interior seats are fine with norips/tears/stains etc. The entire Jeep could be redone to make it a 100 point show vehicle, but I'd suggest simply keeping it all original and enjoying it this way. It has the Willys F-head, 4 cylinder engine in it making for a cute little set-up. It's been sitting for a couple of years inside so I'd reccommend going over/through the brakes, engine, fuel lines etc. This is not something you are going to be able to climb in and drive away home in, but when you do take it out you'll likely be the only one around with one like it! The trencher factory installed option is not a very common site to behold and this later version ran circles around the lighter duty Auburn Trencher found on the earlier Jeeps - this one was made to do some SERIOUS work. There is a front power angle push plow that I don't have on it for the pictures, but it is here with it and will go with the Jeep if you want it. I do have original factory literature on the Jeep and its option that can go along with it to the new owner. Fewer of the later model Trenchers were likely sold and it seems only a bare handful of them have managed to survive in any shape or form now fifty odd years out from being made. This one can be yours for less than a used Kubota tractor for comparison sake! If you are simply looking for a Super, low mileage early 1960's Jeep CJ-5 this would fit your needs like no other one I know.... once you removed the trencher attachment etc. - although I would hate to see you do that, I would be a bit envious as the thought has crossed my mind over the years to do just that! Unfortunately, I suppose I am simply too much of a purist to do that so my "weakness" is your gain in that category! Once Paid for, this Jeep can stay here for a bit while you finalize your arrangements for pickup. We can work with you to make the pick up as smooth as possible - i.e. on your way back from the Hershey AACA car show and flea market for instance. I'm going to hate to see this one go away as I realize I won't find another one in my lifetime in as nice as shape, but it's the right thing to do at the moment - and besides, the wife will be happy! If you have questions, please ask and I'll do my best to try and answer your question/s. Other folks such as Dave Eilers from eWillys, or Jim Lape current President of the KFOCI, have seen this in-person and can attest that it is real and does exist in its all original condition. Glenn Bryon up in Maine is a fellow owner of one and I'm certain he will be more than willing to work with the new owner to teach them the ins and outs of operating one!
