Vehicle Detail

Nice 1974 Caddy Eldo convertible up for auction with NO RESERVE - Last year for the fender skirts! 91k original miles, 500 V8. Options include hard fiberglass parade boot cover, disc brakes, telescoping and tilt steering wheel, 60/40 split power bench seat, twilight sentinel / auto dimming lights, power trunk release and power trunk pulldown. All original including am/fm auto-seek stereo with working 8-track tape player.Mechanical: Service records going back over ten years, over $5000 in work just in receipts. Entirely new front end in 2010 including axles, bearings, bushings, sway bar links, ball joints, and more. Everything detailed in records. If you've had a 70's Eldorado you know how the front end wears out, considering it's a front wheel drive vehicle with a 500 V8 sitting on top of it. Caddy handles like new now, the front end is nice and tight, no wandering. New exhaust system from engine back in 2009, done right with Walker muffler and all welded pipes, Caddy runs nice and quiet. Other work over the last decade or so includes tranny main seal, rebuilt carburetor, all new front disc brake setup (calipers, hoses, etc), engine mounts, new radiator, new auto ride leveling air compressor, alternator, and various electrical repairs. The a/c has not been retrofitted, it still has some R12 in the system but just blows cool and the cruise control needs a new rubber "bellows" to work again. My mechanic told me it's definitely the original mileage considering the overall mechanical and cosmetic condition. I bought the Caddy in Spring 2012 from an older gentleman in upstate NY who did most of the work to the car then had to sell due to loss of storage. The Eldo has always been immaculately maintained, recent full tuneup, oil change and coolant flush. Cosmetic: convertible top replaced in 2000 with glass back window with defrost ($200 additional over plastic window), top goes up and down easily with the push of a button, no help necessary. The edges of the convertible top are beginning to fray a bit but no rips or open seams. Power windows work well, quick and easy, the driver's rear window needs help going up. Interior is very nice as seen in the pix, the leather seats are in great shape but could use a good cleaning and conditioning. The door panels and rear panels are very nice, no cracking, peeling or discoloration and the dashboard is perfect, no cracks anywhere. The carpet is a bit faded and could use a good cleaning but has no rips or bare spots. The windows could use new weatherstripping. The Caddy was painted about 15 years ago, a nice metallic version of the original color. When the car was painted the body shop replaced all the cracking and crumbling front and rear fiberglass bumper and fender fillers with brand new pieces (complete set cost over $600 plus paint and installation). The fiberglass body filler between the passenger side rear taillight and the bumper has a small vertical crack, less than two inches and small areas of clearcoat are beginning to peel, only visible up close. The paint on the car is stunning, especially in the sunlight, the metallic paint glitters. The passenger rear quarter behind the skirt was scraped pulling out of the garage; the paint has been touched up but when you're close to the car you can see the quarter was pushed in a bit. The chrome bumpers and brightwork are in great shape, no pitting or fading. The fiberglass parade boot cover snaps on solidly, it's strong enough to sit on. The cover is in great shape, no scratches or fading as seen in the pix. The fiberglass parade boot cover is an expensive option, you see them on Ebay priced anywhere from $600-$1000. I reserve the right to end the auction early as the Caddy is for sale locally and I'm open to reasonable buy it now offers as well. I can assist with shipping in the USA or internationally if necessary, cost of shipping to paid by buyer. She's roadworthy, all directional/brake/turn signal/headlights work (even the cool multi-color fender indicators) as well as wipers and horn. Engine always starts easily, even after sitting for a month or two. Cruises nicely on the highway, holds the road perfectly. Runs very strong, tracks straight as an arrow and brakes evenly, no pulling or fading. She idles perfectly, shifts smoothly, stops easily and the suspension is luxurious. Drives overall like a Caddy should. The Eldo is almost spotless underneath; floors and trunk completely solid, body never patched, the Eldo has been a Garage Queen all her life. This is the last year the Eldorado had rear fender skirts. No leaks, garage floor always dry when I take her out. VIN is 6L67S4Q402074. Nice classic Caddy which will only appreciate in value!
